I know I posted about this before, but I don't feel like finding the thread (which is probably like 4th from the top
. Anyway, here's the bands I saw, in alphabetical order:
As I Lay Dying
Behemoth
The Black Dahlia Murder
Cannibal Corpse
Chariot -- Cancelled
Evergreen Terrace
Gwar
In Flames
Terror
Through the Eyes of the Dead
Trivium
Of all bands, I liked As I Lay Dying's music the best, in a close tie with Black Dahlia Murder, and I liked Trivium the least, although they were all really good. There's a couple metalcore bands in there, which I liked, although I know a lot of you here don't like the metalcore. The music may not be the best, but they put on a cool show
We spent the full 8 hours of the show at the front against the barricade, so that was pretty cool. And tiring, but eh? It was fun!
Here's a couple highpoints, in no particular order:
Behemoth is probably the closest to a black-metal band I've ever seen, although they sounded more death-ish than they should have. They were actually really creepy and fun.
The guys from Black Dahlia Murder were deparately begging the audience to give them free weed, since they'd just crossed the border. This kid right in front of me (I let him stand in front because he's really small) was waving his little baggie around, right in front of security, which was pretty dumb. But they didn't do anything about it, probably because the band was asking for it. Then after the show, they came down to thank him and we all got to talk to him. Although that band is nothing really special, it still felt cool
Cannibal Corpse was probably the wildest, I nearly lost my spot during them. The guy I was right beside (some stranger) and me had to work together to get rid of some pusher-inners, but we did it!
Gwar was also really wild, but I had a huge guy standing beside me, and we're pretty much immobile. I was wearing a white shirt, so of course I got totally soaked with their blood. Last time I saw Gwar they had an hour set (this time was 1/2 hour), so they didn't get to do as much as I would have liked, but it was still a lot of fun. Afterwards we went to Boston Pizza and the waitress though we were hurt. But some other patrons of the restaurant recognized the fake blood and it was allll good. And that crap doesn't wash off hands very well, it was stuck in my fingernails for days.
Here's a picture of my friend, who wasn't wiping his face off or anything (it looked worse than it does in the picture, but I did the best I could):
