So there's this guy who rents an office on the floor where I work. His name is Andy, and he's a company-of-one. He does graphics design, with a couple desks, piles of books, two computers, and three monitors. And a chair, plant, pictures, and other officy stuff. His office is fairly small, and the walls are glass so we can always see what he's doing.
Anyways, last Friday, I was walking by his office. I looked in to see how he's doing, and the office was empty. And I mean empty. There was absolutely nothing in the room. It looks like it had been uninhabited for awhile. So I just sort of ignored it.
Today, I walked by again. It was still empty. And I was pretty sure I saw him on Thursday, working as normal.
So as I'm sitting there wondering what's going on, nobody's saying anything. So it occurs to me: what happens if I say, "what happened to Andy?" Will everybody say, "Who's Andy? There's never been anybody here named Andy... well, except one guy who worked in that corner office 10 years ago, but he committed suicide at work". I was so sure by the end of today that he was a ghost all along that I was terrified (not really
) to ask anybody.
So eventually I asked. Apparently, he moved into a new house (which I knew), which has room for an office. And the decision to move his office to the house was spur-of-the-moment on Thursday night. So everything worked out. But being a ghost would have been way cooler....
