School!
« on: September 04, 2006, 10:26:18 pm »
As is customary around here, my school trials and tribulations get discussed in a wonderful topic! School starts tomorrow morning, and the trials I will face are:

1. English
2. History
3. Scienza
4. English
5. Espanol
6. Social Studies
7. How to not drive like Newby

Wish me luck. I especially look forward to hours 3, 5, and 7. 1, 4 and 6 will easily double as study halls because unfortunately they stuck me in the SPED classes for having ADHD (assholes). 2 should be a pain, but oh well.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

Anyway, this class, #7, is it how to drive like absolute shit?

Yeah, as far as I know, Newby's a perfectly capable drive. I mean shit, he backed down my driveway. And didn't die. Very, very few people can pull that one off.

Nah. How not to get arrested.

I have this 'tarded tree in the middle of my driveway (literally) and still made it out ok before. The only time I've nearly hit something was doing a 180-degree turn in the neighbor's driveway (garage sale) and turning in to another neighbor's driveway (their dad nearly hit the same tree on their way out so I don't count it too bad).

History is [required] [...]

Yeah.. Driving isn't hard. -.-;
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

It is when you know if the law sees you then you won't be driving until your 18. :). I've done all those stunts without a license. Anyhow, I get my permit in around 4-5 weeks.

Alright, I forgot this in the last post, so here it is -- rundown of the day:

English. Boring. I've got the sped teacher so it's easy, he's devoting his attention to the other idiots in there. Basically, I've got five packets to do, and when I'm done, done. Half a credit, then study hall. History. Haven't found much out yet except it's rather laid back, although we're in a semi-small room (25 kids in a room built for 20, or something). No homework, but a lot of classwork. Science! Fun, I know everything already, because I took the class last year (and knew everything already anyhow). I sit next to Tory's little brother, LOL. English, as above. Espanol.. uh.. como te amas.. soy Joe!.. mucho gusta.. *shake hands*. Drivers ed.. not much to say.

Yay, I needed to slop a huge post into a paragraph for once.

The most daring thing I've done without my licence (which I still don't have, by the way :P) is drive one of my parents' vehicles accross town by my dad's orders.  He got home from work and asked me to go pick it up at the auto shop.

I live in a "rural community" that's like one road that forms a circle (actually like a lowercase delta) with a few roads sticking out, ending in cul du sacs (MapQuest it, Buckhorn Rd, Reedsburg WI 53959). I've never left the development, myself driving.

And rollin'!

By the way, I was driving my friend's truck down my driveway, he already had it kinda' sideways. I had never driven an underpowered truck before (Ford Ranger 3.0 L. Eww), and I had no idea how to treat things. So I start trying to get myself rearranged from his driving being so fucked, and I step on the gas, expecting to go. Nothing. For some fuck reason, his power wheel is on the left. It's always on the right, his is on the left. Wtf. So I pretty well buried that tire, then just decided to offroad it all the way down, that was rough. I felt like a major idiot. My driving is normally pretty decent, but what the fuck at that Ford. Underpowered, reversed, toyish, what a waste.

School's alright. Now I remember why my topic died last year, nothing out of the ordinary ever happens. Thus, I supply you with quotes!

[Discussing lab safety]
Teacher: Just don't be stupid and try lighting your pencil on fire like Joe and you'll be ok.
Joe: It doesn't work.

[Discussing current events]
Nick: (comedic tone) DID YOU GUYS KNOW STEVE IRWIN DIED?!

[Drivers Ed]
Teacher: There's some kids in this class that are already getting on my nerves in this class.
* Teacher stares Justin down
Teacher: I'm not like the rest of the teachers in this building. I'm not going to put up with you being jackasses in class [note: he did indeed say jackasses]
* Teacher stares Conner down
Teacher: I'm a business-like guy. I've been to too many young people's funerals and I'm not going to any more if I can provent it.
* Teacher stares Zach down
Teacher: It's six steps to guidance if you keep screwing off.

The last quote was SO great in real life. Hehe.

If you lit a pencil at my school, you'll at least a month suspension, literally dickslapped by the principal, and get an F in whatever science you're taking.

I didn't try lighting a pencil on fire. I have a hypothesis that, as normal pencils are sort of pastic based, they would melt before igniting. I don't feel like trying, not because I'd be suspended (I'd be laughed at, at worst), but because I don't find it amusing enough to try.

Every pencil I use is made of wood.  Only the really sucky kinds are made of composite, recycled crap.  You know, the ones you can bend into interesting shapes.

I am NOT mexican.

We lit pencils on fire in Chemistry last year

and OMG you know what class rocks? Astronomy

ALL you do is go to the Planeterium and look at stars and the teacher is like a hippie.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

Physics + Number Theory + Calculus + Astronomy/Cosmology + Electronics + Pre-Cal/Trig were all done in pen.  The only reason I had to use a pencil in the last 2 years was the SATs and the APs.

That's the great thing about being smart: I rarely had to cross stuff out.  The most scratch marks I made were in Number Theory, when decrypting something and he would only tell us "It's 200 letters long, go!" and give us some jibberish.  That stuff takes a lot of trial and error to find out the system and key and then find its INVERSE, o damn that took a while, especially when the keybit was not relatively prime to the modulo...one of them took about 3 hours just to get the inverse of the key to start decryption.  Sheesh.
