Sweet Tea
« on: October 01, 2006, 07:04:58 pm »
So, as I'm sitting here drinking a glass of tea I got to thinking, considering this board consists largely of Yankee's (aside from me, WiReS, and maybe a few others) how does everyone like their tea?

For me (rather stereotypically), it's fresh brewed with lots and lots of sugar. And lucky for me, there's almost always a pitcher of it in my refridgerator. Hardee's is good too, but it could do with more sugar.

Yankees?  I hope you know that means redneck (no, I'm serious).  Anyway, I like Arizona Sweet Tea.  It's nice.

I like my tea hot and dark. The darker the better.

I don't know what "Sweet Tea" is, but I used to drink a lot of Iced Tea (usually Nestea or similar).  But now I'm into Ginger Ale or 7up.

I like my tea strong as long as it's cold, and with just enough sweetener (usually I use saccharin, because it dissolves really quickly) to take the edge off.
I have a programming folder, and I have nothing of value there

Running with Code has a new home!

Our species really annoys me.

Sweet tea is iced tea. Nestea is disgusting.

Close!  Iced Tea doesn't need sugar, and AFAIK Sweet Tea doesn't use lemon.

True, Iced Tea is pre-sugared.  But not all Iced Tea uses lemon.

I don't know about what you do there, but we don't use real tea-stuff here to make it, either.  I've had iced-normal-tea before and I hated it, I only like the stuff that comes in powder or cans.

Any kind of Arizona Tea.  I love Arizona Tea!!

Was it actually made in Arizona?  Or is it like French Toast and made in New York?
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

From Wikipedia:

Quote
The AriZona Beverage Company is a popular producer of various flavours of Iced Tea and Energy drinks from the United States, based in Lake Success, New York. The AriZona Beverage Company is a branch of Ferolito, Vultaggio & Sons, which started out as a beer brewery in New York City.

It was named in honor of the U.S. state of Arizona, On a whim from one of the founders wives. Supposedly, neither Ferolito or Vultaggio had visited Arizona prior to naming the company.

So yeah, New York is exactly right :P

People do some crazy stuff.

I've never had Az Tea, Nestea turned me off from already 'cooked' teas.
I spose I ought to try it sometime

I don't understand why a person would drink canned or instant or premade or whatever you want to call it tea.

Close!  Iced Tea doesn't need sugar, and AFAIK Sweet Tea doesn't use lemon.

Lemon is acceptable but I don't like it in my tea.

Are the rumors true that if you're in the north and ask for a glass of tea they bring you unsweetened? Or if you ask for a glass of sweet tea (if they know what you're talking about) bring you a glass of unsweetended tea, a spoon, and sugar packets?
