Load of shit. A default install of SP2 is completely unaffected by goggle.com.

Must have been SP1. :)

It's still funny. Pretty obvious it's a completely unsecure not up to date system.
It still shows how bad it can get, it's pretty sad XP was like this by default and Microsoft has 95% of the market.
So 95% of the market had this when XP launched. Pretty scary to think, what if Vista launches like this?

I've been a Vista optimist all through it's development but really, it's all version 1.0 components which don't have reliability testing yet. UAP is good (annoying) but what's the extent to which it can stop something? What if someone can circumvent UAP all together?

Vista does some things right, does some things wrong, and some things bleh. It's always two steps forward, one step backwards, and you're still feeling dizzy when you use Windows Vista.

I don't get you.  You were really positive on Vista when it was first coming around (i.e., when it sucked balls), but now that it's getting altogether and good, you're being fickle about it.  And you're ass-backwards about UAP, too.  Computers ship by default with a Computer Administrator account.  That's what every computer is going to be installed with, including home users.  So every time a UAP dialog pops up, some idiot is going to call his or her techie to tell him or her that it's okay. 

The RC1 bits are rock-solid.  But the way UAP is implemented isn't going to offer any protection unless user accounts are limited, which would prevent 95% of the problems even in XP.

But let's be honest.  For those of you who live away from home, or once you do live away from home, are you going to give your non-techie mom or dad a limited account on which they can't install programs or new hardware like a digital camera?  Are you going to have to drop everything to go there or remote control their computer just to do something trivial?  Of course not.  So they'll eventually get used to clicking "Authorize" when the UAP dialog pops up (I was about 2 minutes into using the May 2005 WinHEC build of Vista), and then they'll be as insecure as ever.

It also doesn't do anything to a totally base install of Windows XP, no service packs or updates. 

I'm pretty sure that the original site was taken down or never existed.  And I'm also sure that that video was mostly not real, or at least rigged/edited to look worse.
