Insane wreck!
« on: November 01, 2006, 11:05:45 am »
Actually, it wasn't that insane.  Today, while I was walking back from my CS class, I saw two kids on bikes run into eachother.  I was pretty close to them, so I tried to be polite and not blurt out with laughter.  But I did smile and giggle a bit. Anyway, that got me thinking just how many accidents are there with bikes on my campus and other campuses?  This is the first I have seen/heard about, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were more, even ones that involve a bike and a person!  Anyway, have any of you other college children seen any of these happen, and how often?

I've had two myself.  The first one happened when an idiot pulled out in front of me (on his bike) while I was going 20 miles an hour (the spedometer on my bike told me :p).  My back brake didn't work at the time, so I impulsively slammed on my front brake and flipped over the front of my bike.  I had a pretty nasty scrape on my elbow (it's still there!  this happened two or three weeks ago) and my wrists hurt enough to keep me from writing for the rest of the day.

The second was entirely my fault, but I was the only person involved!  I was riding on the day after the first snow we got (around two weeks ago, I think).  It was relatively nice outside (no snow, clear skies), but it was still cold!  There was an area shaded by trees where some snow must have melted and then froze to the sidewalk which I blissfully transversed.  Needless to say, my wheels slid out from under me when I tried to turn and I fell.  It wasn't nearly as bad as the first one, though.  All I got from this one were some scraped knuckles.  Plus, I don't think anyone noticed!

There was another near accident when a squirrel jumped out of these raised bushes while I was riding by them.  The stupid thing came within about half a foot of my face!  It scared the shit out of me.

Other than that, though, I don't think I've seen any accidents.

LMFAO!

Omg, that is so awesome.  Wow, that is amazing.  At our campus, we too have squirrels that like to attack people. :P

Well, I figured it would sound lame if I tried to blame it on the person that planted the trees that cast a shadow on that patch of sidewalk, so I just took one for the team.

No... ?

If you would have read what I wrote, you would have known that 'there was no snow.'

No he doesn't. Even I can tell the sarcasm in that.

Do you even know what a snowtire is? It's a net of chains you wrap around a tire. I'd love to see you try riding a bike with chains wrapped around it's thin tires. Actually, I wouldn't, because then I'd have to fill out a bunch of forms after doing CPR and stuff on you, but the fact is that you'd probably kill yourself.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Did you even think to consider that he's being sarcastic as well? ...

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.
