I got my new debit card, yay!
« on: November 07, 2006, 08:52:02 pm »
I forgot this was topic worthy until Newby reminded me. Thanks Newby!

Last Thurdsay I got a debit card, a Wells Fargo Gold card! Yay!

I can withdraw $300 a day from an ATM, and spend $1000 a day.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

I can spend MAX_AMOUNT_IN_BANK, but I can only withdraw $40 from a machine per day.  :P

I use it at school, work and at restaurants that I trust, but nowhere else.
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

About the only place I use my debit card is at the ATM. I hate using it to purchase stuff. I just withdraw money and have my mom buy stuff on the internet.

Sad, because she uses Windows, and there's a good chance a key logger will get installed and it'll eventually steal her password long before any site does. :(

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

My school doesn't take credit or debit. The concession stands (yes, plural, I work at a big place) at work accept them though, so that in combination with the employee discount equals pwn. So far I've used it at work, Walmart, and McDonalds. :)

I don't see any reason to use an ATM except for depositing, and I don't even know if they support that anymore (they used to, but it was always out of order, 24/7/365).

Also, Windows is relatively safe, if you know what you're doing. The fact is, though, that nearly everyone doesn't.

Joe, size doesn't matter at all when it comes to how many concession stands there are.  If there's only 1 concession stand, the park sucks.  It's a law.

YOU'RE NOT CANADIAN.  That's not even an acceptable spelling of regardless in any form of English.

In Canada, every store has debit (we call it 'interac') and everybody uses debit for everything, almost.  It's very, very common here.  Sounds funny for you Americanians who don't have debit.

No, when I vacationed there last month maybe half the places I went to supported Debit, compared to here where they support it everywhere

You were in the midwest.  Coastal states, particularly in (sub)urban areas support debit (everywhere I've been to in Philly/NJ/NYC accepted debit).

It was a typo, not me trying to be Canadian. And I will spell both colour and Saviour exactly as I'd like to. Actually, you're word "Savior" is pronounced with a u anyhow, if you ask me, so I spell it like that on accident!

Nobody's rejected my debit card yet. And besides, if they did, it's a valid visa credit card, too, in the sense that it's like a credit card on their side. I still get it immediately charged to my account, like a debit card. You know what I mean though, right?

A lot of places just run the debit as credit to save money on systems they have to implement.  Maybe you just didn't realize they supported debit in that way.  The only places I can't use a debit card here (a small town at that) are on-campus organization things.  I use my debit card literally everywhere.  In fact, the only reason I ever have cash anymore is for tips (if you write the tip on the bill, they get that taxed, so I'd rather do them a favor and give them cash) and splitting things with other people.

I'm not talking about "rejecting" it.  I'm talking about places that accept cash or check only.

To respond to an older post in this thread: it's sort of true.  We do have cheques, but stores don't take them.  Cheques are only used for person-to-person money transfers, it's very rare to use one for a business (unless it's mail-in).

Oh, yeah! How much for the N64 and games? And does your paypal accept credit card (I'd assume so, bringing it up in this thread).

Also, what books do you have?

And yay, it's payday!
