This is ridiculous!! >:(

I can't find the correct driver for my wireless card.

(I'm on an HP)
-lspci manager says Dell Wireless Card...so I download that & try to install it on XP, error, hardware not found or something.
-Instructions say I can just use bcmwl5.sys file from sys32/drivers along with the .inf file in WINDOWS/inf that mentions bcmwl5.sys.  I find both of those file & use the ndiswrapper but it still says invalid driver.

SO, does anyone know how I might be able to find out exactly what drivers I'd need?
I've looked in the device manager & found the bcmwl5.sys file that it refers to & I mentioned above, but this ndiswrapper doesnt like it :(

Do you have the computer's specs?  I would look up the exact name and model of your wireless card there.

Well... going by the fact that you're using the bcmwl5.inf you have a Broadcom card like me. Good luck! (Which kernel are you using? Try a 2.6.17 or higher kernel they added Broadcom cards, but it's still a matter of the planets aligning correctly for your card to work)

I have no problems compiling things... except "BLAH requires Ugh version 1"  and Ugh version 1 requires omfg version 29... and that requires...    ::)
And like a fool I believed myself, and thought I was somebody else...

Newbs often don't compile, and if they do they will probably won't be compiling WindowMaker.  I'm sure that gcc has either fixed or will fix that bug. :P

I've been compiling since the bottle.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

The only time I've ever had that problem was with glibc, gtk and co.

For Ubuntu, get automatix! It helps install those widely used programs by clicking a little checkbox, including ndiswrapper.
