Casino Royal

One word: Fan-fucking-tastic.  If I were British I would say jolly good show.  If I were Italian I would say magnifico.  If I were French... I would kill myself.

Without spoiling anything I can honestly this is my favorite Bond movie to date and even ranks on my list of top 10 movies altogether.  It's taken the series away from the perfect hairdo, convient gadget for every situation, never getting a scratch Bond to a more gritty look at what would really go into being the man himself.  That's not to say there isn't still the wisecracking man we know and love, but now he actually has to do things like change his shirt because there's blood on it, and hide a bandage he put on from a guerilla's machete swipe.  It's hard to say much more without spoinging anything, so you'll probably do better reading reviews off a site like rottentomatoes.  I just thought I would put it out there that this movie rocks (and totally redeems the series from Die Another Day).

I skipped swim practice to see this, and it was worth it. The movie was really good but in my opinion wasn't great. I much prefer the classical bond style, the sophisticated and calm man who is just...Bond. But I understand this was the forming of Bond and he's still new to the game at this time. Also, I thought the action was lacking with exceptions being the beginning and end - but the extended card game got a little old. I also missed all of his gadgets, as one of my favorite parts in all of the movies is when he gets them. When he first pulled up to the club in a Ford I was getting worried, but they quickly corrected that. :)

I also think that Daniel Craig is too built. It makes Bond appear more as a brute instead of a classy chap.

Anyway, with all that nitpicking  aside the movie itself was great.

BEST BOND EVER!

This is the best one I've ever seen.  Also, I love this new actor, INFINITELY better than Pierce.  And according to my friend's dad, this is much more like the books than usual.

This BY FAR out ranks any of the recent Bond films with Pierce, I'd say.  Especially "To Die Another Day".

I like the not-so-suave Bond, creates a better double agent feeling.

He's only not so suave because it's Casino Royale, I'm sure this will change in future movies.

Casino Royale has been made a few times...  (I haven't seen this most recent one).

Having seen basically all of the Bond films (except this one), I would say the two best ones are definitely:
1. Goldeneye (Brosnan)
2. Man with the Golden Gun (Moore)

Goldeneye was very good.  All of the other Brosnan ones are terrible though.

I absolutely loved it =) It's clearly a home run not only in the field of the Bond movies but also in the action genre in general. The human element made it much more exciting for me; a pure action movie with no human element can be entertaining but not particularly inspiring. I'd say that this movie ranks along the Bournes as one of my favorite action movies.

I don't remember ever seeing Goldeneye or the Man with the Golden Gun, as Rule mentioned above. I'll have to add those to my list...

You spelled it wrong, jerk.

This movie owns.  Except the fact they trashed a '49 Aston Martin.  That made me want to cry.  So did the delayed 45 minutes which showed the reason Bond became badass.  I like the new one over Connery.

Has anyone else seen other Daniel Craig movies, such as LayerCake or Munich? How's his performance compare?

Brosnan isn't as bad as Timothy Dalton or George Lazenby (all he did was On Her Majesty's SS).  Moore and Connery are definitely the best, though I prefer Connery :P

No, but I hear Munich overall was a damn good movie.

They've already started work on another one with Craig I believe, set to release Nov. 2008 with option for a third.

Hmm, a lot of Bond fans don't like Timothy Dalton, but I actually never saw anything wrong with him.  I don't really know what it is people don't like about Dalton.  I didn't think he was worse in any obvious way than Connery or Moore (both of who I thought were good).  I don't really have any feelings about George Lazenby... everything about his Bond character is so neutral.

I guess I'm rather alone in my opinion of the movie: I didn't like it.  I mean, it wasn't terrible, but I was expecting to be impressed and wasn't.

My main problem: too much stuff happening.  There are 100 different bad guys, some of whom are trying to kill each other, some are trying to kill bond, and some are playing cards, and some aren't really bad after all.  Too much was happening at once, taking the focus away from important stuff.

My other problem: too long.  There were way too many scenes that just went on and on and on and on.  Mainly chase-type scenes.

To me, those two factors made the movie far less enjoyable than it should have been.  I'm not impressed.

On the other hand: I liked the actor, he did a great job.  I also like the characters.  They were developed really well.  That was the main saving grace, and my favorite part.

I liked the movie but The ending was stupid.
