Recommendation for a GOOD PSU..
« on: December 09, 2006, 11:30:15 am »
My current PSU thought it would be super funny if it started spinning up every other second, then stopping. I need one that'll get all my IDE/SATA powered things, and it won't die or catch on fire or be lame again.

:(.

If no one recommends me one, I go to the store, hand my current PSU to someone, and say "I need one of these." iago recommended that.

Fuck my Turbo-Cool 510 ATX-PFC Deluxe, I want one that isn't gay.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

$0-300. Somewhere between there. I'm easy going. I don't care if it's expensive, as long as I don't have to fucking replace it after a year. Or two years. Or let's go for a long time.

I think you should just go and get anything that's cheap and provides you with enough power.

You forgot the USB fleshlight.

Yea....that's a bad idea.  PSU's perform a very crucial role that isn't as simple as you may think.  It's important you get a quality one to protect your machine.

I'm a big Thermaltake fan (no pun intended).  Anything they sell will be fail-open and have proper current limiters.  The only thing you have to decide is how much power you need out of it and how much you want to spend to make it quieter.

I have a bunch of old ones.  I can check the wattage on them (when I get home) and mail you one if you want me to.

Newby said he wanted one that will last a while. In my experience, I've had cheap ones go out from 1 week, to 6 months.

Search through and read the reviews. Make sure it has the SATA cable. You should find something pretty good.

So am I, apparently. And I'm using a Dell..
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.
