This topic came up in our cell group tonight and I was wondering what your opinions are on it. The two viewpoints on the topic were "if we're never going to die, why reproduce?", and to oppose that, "Well, it's paradise!"
I think that pretty much all Christians agree that Heaven is a place of eternal, non-stop worshiping God. Generally, worship is associated with praising and singing, however,
Wikipedia states that, (under "Typical Acts of Worship"), it can be "living out worship in daily life." The bible clearly states that sex, while married, is indeed his plan, and even goes as far as to say "be fruitful and multiply." So from this, it could be said that having sex is somewhat a form or worshiping God. Also, other activities such as fellowship, etc, are also worship. I personally believe that in heaven we will not just sit there and sing to God for eternity.
But, if we
will have sex in Heaven, what happens with the babies? We won't age, so we won't die. That means that the babies will consume space, and eventually Heaven will be so packed that you couldn't even have sex without crushing someone else, which would kinda suck. I suppose a possibility would be that the Kingdom of Heaven is eternally wide, so we could continue spreading out (we'd obviously have some sort of ESP, so we'd be able to comunicate easily, whatever).
Also, if you don't age in Heaven, will you be breastfeeding your newborns for eternity? Or could it be similar to the Elves in LotR (yes, weird reference, I know) where you age to 35 or so and then stop growing, after becoming a mature adult?
What are your thoughts on all this?
