Iran
« on: January 01, 2007, 01:18:54 am »
This summer, I'll be heading to Iran for about 3 weeks. I'd like to be prepared before I go so I get the best out of the trip; any suggestions? Anything I should look into/ask? I'll be sure to tell you all how biased their TV's are. Apparently, they're blaming America for everything Saddam has done, and said that we killed Saddam to cover it up. Bunch of crap.

50% Iranian. I think the Native American stands out more in me than anything else.

Becareful.
The once grove of splendor,
Aforetime crowned by lilac and lily,
Lay now forevermore slender;
And all winds that liven
Silhouette a lone existence;
A leafless oak grasping at eternity.

Sounds like a good opportunity.  Good luck in there...

We didn't kill Saddam, did we?  We captured him, but I thought we let him have trial in another country.  Hanging is only legal in, what, two states in the US?

Iraq tried and executed Saddam.

Learn a little bit of...arabic?.  Speaking even just a few phrases will probably help you.  Make sure to look into cultural differences (like what to wear, eat, not say/ask)

I don't know how to spell it, but it's like Farsi or something. I do know a few words from when my grandma came over, I'll just have to learn more from the environment when I get there.

Just make sure you don't become a hostage while you're there. Dumb radical islamists.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

Iran is actually very westernized and welcoming of Americans and American culture. Within reason, obviously.
