It was a form of Guerrilla Marketing. They placed little flashing signs of Aqua Teen Hunger Force charactes on buildings and bridges in the city, and by seeing the ATHF characters, they would recognize them when previews for the movie started coming out. It's supposed to be one of those subtle things, where you don't really know you've been advertised to.

Anything that isn't familiar and has LEDs is automatically a bomb.  Guaranteed. 100%.  Everyone knows that!  Just ask the Boston Police.

They were Light BrightTM pegs, not LEDs.

They were Light BrightTM pegs, not LEDs.

They were much bigger than "Lite-Brite", they were just designed after it.

But yeah, why would terrorists put big LEDs on their bombs?  That wouldn't make any sense.  Let's try and draw attention to our weapons! Woo!

I think the Boston police/whoever else totally over-reacted.

I'd laugh that if when they were blowing up the "bomb" under the bridge, that their bomb accidentally blew up the bridge. :D

The thing that is disturbing is not people "taking it seriously", but that the city of Boston threw the two accused in jail (they posted bond) and is attempting to pin felony charges on them with prison time associated.

The charges in question require an intent to cause panic.  I see no way any reasonable person would come to that conclusion and seriously attempt to prosecure without a complete disregard for how our justice system is supposed to work.

One can only hope that the judge and jury involved are not so obviously dead-set on trying to abuse the criminal justice system to cover up (or at least direct blame away/attention from) the city's obvious incompetence.

I'm just surprised that the two haven't been labled "enemy combatants" and shipped off to Guantanamo yet at this rate...

If I were the two accused, I'd grab myself a really expensive lawyer, then attempt to switch the charges around on the Boston police for causing panic. They're much more guilty than the ones involved with the advertising.

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

I have a feeling the CEO was planning to resign sometime soon anyways. I doubt anyone would leave for such a thing.
