Guild Wars?
« on: June 03, 2008, 02:13:35 pm »
I really tried to get back into WoW.. My characters are gathering dust, and my 70 mage just got into a decent raiding guild -- but... I just can't do it. I guess the redundancy is something I can't get over. Personally, I'm waiting for Warhammer to come out; I really don't see myself getting in-depth into any MMO's until it does.

BUT. To quell my boredom, I did pick up a copy of Guild Wars yesterday; I got my character to level 8, but now... I almost feel like I've hit a dead end of sorts. Is anyone out there still playing Guild Wars? (*cough Muffin*) I don't mind playing by myself, but it seems like some of the content you can't do solo...

For those of you who've played it, though, what're the pros/cons? And is there actually a decent amount of end-game content?

Your end game content is basically raiding one instance called Underworld. Theres also GvG (Guild vs Guild)

Holy bump!

GW was visually stunning for its day, and I'd have to admit that's the only reason I bought it. I found the gameplay to be quite uninteresting; I know I spent more time disassembling it than actually playing it. Very interesting program design.

This game sucks. Stop trying to be different and play WoW.
One must ask oneself: "do I will trolling to become a universal law?" And then when one realizes "yes, I do will it to be such," one feels completely justified.

GW graphics are still pretty good compared to most other mmos - aoc being the only one i can think of with better graphics. Not even the upcoming warhammer has better graphics, imo. Warhammers graphics looks pretty weak based on the videos i've seen. ofcourse, you can't really judge it without seeing it in person on a quality computer, i guess.

but yea, i don't see anything being higher quality than wow is, for quite a while. warhammer doesn't look like it'll beat it, and aoc took a nose dive the day it went live, lol. not to mention wotlk on the horizon....

edit: i should mention that i AM hopeful about warhammer, though. i knew what warhammer was before i knew what blizzard was, and even collected and painted the tabletop miniatures just because i thought they were cool. i never actually knew how to play the game, though. lol. so, this mmo of theirs interests me a lot, and sounds like it has a lot of really cool features, and a lot of thought put into it. i'd like to see it do well.

Much belatedly, I quit Guild Wars after a couple weeks of play. It just didn't entertain me.

As for WoW, I'll never play it again. I got my fill out of it, I enjoyed it for what it was worth, but I want something new and different -- which is why I've sunk my teeth into Warhammer and am clinging to it like mad. After getting a chance to play preview weekend, I'm totally enamored, and radically excited about the game. But, before I start spewing out WAR love, I'll start a new thread. ;)

For the record though, I don't really care about graphics. Sure, I wouldn't play a game that looked like absolute crap, but I don't consider WoW to be stunningly beautiful and I played it for about two years. I care more about gameplay than anything, really.
