DDoS on the out
« on: May 01, 2007, 08:31:32 pm »
http://it.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=07/05/01/2135212&from=rss talks about the blog here: http://www.symantec.com/enterprise/security_response/weblog/2007/04/dos_extortion_is_no_longer_pro.html

(notice the submitter on the Slashdot story -- go me!!)

I mentioned this here before, but that blog says it in a good way: extortion by denial of service attacks aren't happening as much, people are using botnets for directly-profitable activities such as spam and phishing attacks.

But who cares? I got a story posted on Slashdot about the guy who sits next to me. Woo! :)

Deathknell? Where'd you get that name? :)

Undead starting zone in WoW, for the record.

By the way, congrats? :)
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

"Death knell" is what they call the tolling of a bell at a funeral. It's an old, old word. Even older than WoW.

But really, I got it from infoworld.

I figured shortly after that WoW borrowed the term from somewhere else. I realized that "Knell" probably isn't synonymous with "town". :)
