"Let are kids walk!"

ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!

But on a more serious note, why is it that some many people (I've seen numerous stories like this one posted on Fark) don't seem to grasp the fact that if they don't meet the requirements for graduation that they don't graduate?
What is so confusing about that?

Not to mention they can't even use the correct spelling of our.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

There's a statewide policy that makes our state standardized test a requirement for graduation. You take it the first time as a sophmore and have *five* times to make it up before the end of your senior year. I say this is a very good thing, but they shouldn't just keep these kids from graduating, they need to be shot for being stupid, it's the easiest test ever.

What's with all of these jabs at Joe about graduation?  From what I understood, he would get a regular seeming HS diploma. Also graduating from a regular high school with a diploma is not very much of an accomplishment anyways.  He is obviously capable of it.

That would make sense, if "they" were changed to "you."

I don't see any point of them walking if they aren't getting a diploma.

Joe might be smart enough to graduate, I'm pretty sure that he is.  Dropping out vs. not passing are two different things.
These kids that didn't pass and still demanded to be honored will become a drain on society.  Sure they might get a job (at McDonal's or a carwash*), but I bet they end up married/partnered with someone and then have kids.  Then they can't afford those kids because they friggin work at McDonald's.

*carwash story:
I Had my truck detailed at local carwash joint (maybe franchised, I dont know), it was a birthday present from my sister ($130 birthday present).
I took it in to have it vaccumed, washed, waxed, etc.  When I picked it up (late because they took an hour+ longer than they said) there was wax build up still on edges and in small cracks, they didn't wax the roof, they did a horrible job of just getting the grass/dirt out of the carpet, they might have cleaned the windows but they got greasy again from the plastic 'polish' crap.
I complained to the manager and he said I could leave it for them to redo it...I had somewhere to be so I brought it back the next weekend where they sorta cleaned it better but bent my antenna!

I was pissed and said I wanted my money back.  The manager said he couldn't do that or he might lose his job.
That's the part that got me.  All I could think was "You look like you're thirty-fucking-five and work as a lazy half-assed car wash manager, when you have a real job to lose call me." (thats the climax of my story so I'll just stop it now)

re: highschool failures
Let's kick out all of the illegal Guatemalans, Mexicans. Chinese, Indians, Pakistanis, etc & give the berry picking jobs to these screw ups!  Although, these fools might find a way to screw that up also :(.  Maybe we ARE better off with illegals vs. Americans.  How freakin sad.

I agree that Myndfyre's signature takes a poke at it.

But I don't see how any significant number of threads refer to it, at least anymore. At first people made fun, but then, like typical people, we mostly stopped caring. I think? I don't read every boring thread, either, so I could be wrong.

And no, I meant nothing of the sort. I was agreeing with his making fun of the people protesting.

It's fine.  Rule is obsessed with finding something about me to be critical of at all times.  Nevermind the fact that Joe and I talk frequently, and I have respect for him, and my signature's really just a funny conversation snippet.

I think that the humour was in the misspelling of the sign in the photograph.

for the sake of argument, lets say this thread really is totally stupid.  then he is just enabling me by continuing to post in it.  People sue enablers at bars (bartenders that serve past the point of drunk).

My province has something called the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) that is similar (I think?) to the test these kids failed.  I don't think they should be able to go to the graduation ceremony if they don't pass it, seeing as they aren't graduating.

Why did you refer to the Politics board (still, that isn't spam) as "s/forum/board"?

"s" = substitute. I'm surprised you haven't seen it before, I see that syntax all the time. It's a quick way to make a correction. s/a/b/ = replace a with b.

Also people I chat with on IM use it occasionally. And yes, of course, Slashdot :)
