Trusts Summer CLEAROUT!
« on: July 01, 2007, 08:47:24 pm »
Alright so I'm leaving for school in 11 days I'm and trying to get rid of some stuff before I go. I just put down prices because they're required but don't be afraid to offer. I have perfect feedback on here, eBay (trust-e1), and Heatware. The only thing I'd trade for would be 360 games.

My Computer
AMD Athlon 2600+ (2.08 Ghz)
1.5 Gigs RAM
Biostar M7NCD Pro Socket A Mobo w/ onboard sound/lan.
CDRW/DVD 48x24x48x16
Radeon 9200+ 128MB
Western Digital 120gb HDD (8mb cache)
it has 2x80mm fans in the front, 1 80mm on the top, and 1 120mm in the back, as well as an exhaust vent for the cpu fan and a bottom vent on the side. Floppy drive
3 fan controllers (2 on a drive bay insert and 1 built into the case) Case usually hovers around 75 degrees Fahrenheit
Antec 350w powersupply (psu fans have blue LEDs as well as other case fans.)
Apevia X-Plorer case (http://www.apevia.com/product.php?pid=153)
It'll include Serious Sam, Power DVD, Power Director, Nero Express, and Norton Suite since those came with some of the parts. I can also include a legit copy of Windows XP Home.
Logitech MX1000 wireless laser mouse
Logitech media keyboard
Saitek ST90 Joystick
$325 shipped for everything

Books
I'd sell the first 3 school books for $25 shipped, which is less than the cost of one. Or I'd trade them for a 360 game. The programming ones maybe $5 each, $35 for all. $50 for everything?
  • Princeton Review's Crack the AP Government Exam
  • Mastering the Math SAT
  • Kaplans 2006 SAT Review book (like 4 inches thick, I never used it so it's brand new condition)
  • Getting started with Visual Basic.NET v. 2003
  • C/C++ A Programmers Reference 2nd edition
  • Deitel & Deitel C++ How to Program
  • Teach Yourself C
  • ASP.NET Unleashed
  • Foundations of Visual Basic 4 (my first programming book Grin)
  • JSP The Complete Reference
  • Java in a Nutshell, 2nd edition
Sega Game Gear
I have a Sega Game Gear with the carrying case, travel adapter, and a Game Genie with the following games:
Power Rangers, Slider, NFL Quarterback Club, X-Men, The Majors Pro Baseball, Jungle Book, Ren & Stimpy Quest for the Shaven Yak, Poker Face Paul's Poker, MLBPA Baseball, Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Super Battletank, FIFA International Soccer
$30 Pending

PC Games
(If you want any just tell me and I'll just give you a price. I figure if someone buys a game they'll buy more than one so it's better to just give a price.) $40 for all of them
  • Call of Duty
  • Call of Duty United Offensive
  • Call of Duty II Collectors Edition
  • Motocross Madness
  • Diablo (with Strategy Guide)
  • Age of Empires
  • ER: Life or Death
  • FX Fighter
  • Mafia
  • Vietnam Black Ops
  • Instant Immerson French (not a game, but whatever)
  • Rogue Spear/Urban Operations expansion
  • Majesty
  • Navy Seals Sea-Air-Land
  • Roller Coaster Tycoon
  • Battleship Surface Thunder
  • Half Life Platinum Collection
  • Half Life 2
  • War 2 BNE
  • Warcraft III
  • World of Warcraft (in case you want the discs I guess?)
I also have a Hercules MK2 DJ Console that I think I'm going to sell. It's fairly new and has only been used a few times so I'd like around $200 or so for it. http://www.hercules.com/showpage.php?p=127

How much for Saitek ST90 USB Joystick ?

Also, I wouldn't mind buying the Western Digital 120gb HDD (8mb cache) hard drive off of you as long as there are no bad sectors and if there are no other buyers for the computer.

I fucking hated that HD. I had the exact same, and for no apparent reason I would have random wipes once every.. 7-8 months? Basically, however long it was, I was always just getting all my music and programs back. GL. lol

Also, I might be interested in the entire "other books" catergory.

I've had the same disk (I think anyway.  It's definitely a WD 120 GB SATA drive) for over a year.  I haven't run into a single problem.

All makes of hardware have faulty members.  Shit happens.

$10 for WC3 and Teach Yourself C?

I get paid next Monday. Hit me up on AIM.

EDIT -
Agree with Sidoh. I've got the same drive too, but PATA. No problems here.
I'd personally do as Joe suggests

You might be right about that, Joe.

Agreed with both of you.

I've have one 80 GB Seagate Barracuda HD in one computer, and one in the other and no problems what-so-ever. Some of my friends have the 120 GB version, and it's just great. :)

$12 shipped? Also I'd prefer to sell the computer as a whole. For what it's worth though the HDD has treated me well, I've only had one problem and that was after a power surge the HDD was corrupted (dunno how, was in a surge protector and nothing else was affected) but I sent it in and got a new one.

leet_muffin hit me up in the PM about the books

Joe: Sounds good.

Maybe like $30 + shipping?

I wasn't sure on this so I checked eBay, and they're like $65 for the ps2 and controllers.

Yeah I guess. I don't know really, it works fine though and no dead pixels as far as I could tell (I actually haven't used it in a couple of months because I started using my LCD TV for games and then all the time, and then I bought a 19in like 2 weeks ago.) The only problem is in the base there is something that broke off and got inside the plastic base and you can hear it rattle around when you move it and it prevents it from staying tilted upwards. If you don't tilt your monitor upwards though it's no problem. I don't really have a problem selling the mouse/keyboard/monitor separately since if I don't sell the computer here I can probably sell it by itself on eBay or another forum. I'm just trying to not use eBay due to fees, plus I know everyone here so it's just better all around. If $50 is what they're going for, then I'll say like $40 or so. $55 shipped for the monitor and joystick.

That's a pretty shit collection of games, how do you live?

I usually rented games for the console because I couldn't justify paying full price and beating them within a week, when I could just rent. I also have a 360 so haven't played the PS2 in awhile, and uhhh for computer games I'd usually just download them.

How much for the Sega Game Gear, and stuff?

dunno just offer something

How much altogether for 007 Agent Under Fire, 007 Nightfire, and NARC?

I'd prefer to sell the PS2 altogether, but ehhh I might be willing to split it up. Just pm me an offer or something. :\

Hi, I will buy windows XP from you. How much $$ are you selling it for? Is it Windows XP SP2 Professional?

You can contact me on AIM at Avianca100.

Also, I'm assuming the Serial works fine and it is genuine?

I bought an Apple bluetooth keyboard today since my grandma got a 8% discount because she works for Disney at the Apple store (which equated to $5 saved, enough for a coffee or something but it's still a discount) Anyway what I'm getting at is now I have an external monitor/keyboard/mouse so I don't really need my PC anymore so I can probably send it a few days after I get home. Enough time for me to pack it/ship it and clear it/transfer files I need to my external.

Yes I sold it on Neowin, which is where I'm obviously going to have to list this stuff. *sigh*

Bad thing is that site (or at least the trading forum) is mostly Brits and I don't want to ship to the UK.

I'm not sure about the controllers.  I haven't used them in a while.  I've got DK64, Ocarina of Time, Waverace, and Jet Force Gemini (awesome game).  I've got a clear purple, gray, and 2 3rd parties that aren't bad, as well as a couple save packs, a rumble pack, and another rumble pack with an extension slot.  There's also the booster cart that came with DK64 in there.

I really, really miss my Perfect Dark save I had on a memory card I... sold. It had the entire game beat. Every difficulty, all the shooting range = gold, all the challenges in multiplayer = bested. :(

That game, plus Goldeneye 007, were probably perfect. :D

I'd bet that you're currently bloated like a water ballon on a hot summer's day.

That analogy doesn't even make sense.  Why would a water balloon be especially bloated on a hot summer's day? For your sake, I hope there wasn't too much logic testing on your LSAT.

Let's just say: Perfect Dark: Zero on the X360 is awful compared to the N64 predecessor. It's still a decent game, just nowhere near as good as the original.

So, nothing good.. :(
You can just run an emulator. They offer better graphics than the original console.
I have done that, but it doesn't feel right...

I spent more than that just on RAM/case/cooling upgrades 2 months ago.

I think I might try eBay or the newspaper.

Seriously, that's just being silly.

The term "worth" in this case obviously means the most reasonable amount (on both ends) he could sell it for.

Not necessarily. Say I've got a 486 that I paid $1,000 for way back when, its worth to me might be a lot higher than its actual worth. Thats realistically the case with a lot of computer hardware these days.

Given that I can buy an equivilent processor on ebay for $1-10, the ram can be had for $14/512 stick, the video card is about $15, the HD for about $15, then he gets $8 for the effort of having put it together. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me.

I understand the subjectivity associated with something's worth... I think you're being pedantic.

You're offering $90 for a computer when he could almost certainly get at least double that.

You're being silly again. :S

Why should he be able to get double that? I just quoted prices for pretty much everything it has. The cost of the motherboard and cd drive is probably neglible, which leaves the case. so perhaps I can see $110 for the whole system but not much more than that. I think I even over valued the RAM.

Besides, the goal isn't for him to get rich, the goal is for me to get a good deal :p Although he doesn't really seem to care and hasn't even offered a counter-offer so I guess he doesn't want to get rid of it that badly.

He's not trying to undercut the price of the summed values of each component.  He's selling it as a whole.  If you want to buy those components and build the PC yourself, then do it and stop whining that he should adhere to your expectations.

Unless I'm missing something, you're also discounting all of the peripherals that he mentioned (including a LCD monitor) and the preinstalled OS (which is a legal copy of XP, I assume).

Who said anything about him getting rich?  I just don't think he should sell it for such a low price.

Simple really, because I know him and the ability to get something premade has an added value to me(note that I'm not willing to pay for it) and if I'm going to go elsewhere then I'll definitely be getting different hardware.

I wasn't including any peripherals, I assumed he was going to get rid of some of them seperately. I just wanted the tower.

Alas, its all capitalism, I want things for cheap and you're interfering with my attempts to drive the price down!

Your quoted prices are not realistic for verified, working hardware.  The motherboard is also definately not negligiable.  You can't spend less than ~$50 on a new motherboard and if you want a used one, chances are you will end up spending more than that $50 throwing out the trashed ones and looking again.  A working, used motherboard is worth at least 30 bucks as long as it supports a chipset that is at least semi modern.

CPUs are easy to find, but you'll spend more than $10 after shipping (and good luck finding something specific locally).
RAM has to match your motherboard specs so while someone like me (and you perhaps) has enough lying around to match most systems, you'll have a hard time paying less than $20 for any working DIMM and the benefit of buying the motherboard, cpu, and memory all together isn't negligible.

Video cards and hard drives on the other hand, I do think are negligible.  Both are very swappable and easy to find.  I have 3-4 spare IDE drives sitting around ranging from 30-120 gigs each....all of them I have received for free and are in working condition.  Video cards generally aren't even necessary since most people are content with integrated graphics (virtually standard).

I'd say no less than $75 for motherboard+cpu+ram, the rest is arguable and likely much more valuable as a part of the 'working' whole than individually.

Nevermind that deal fell through too. He was buying it for his brother but his brother decided to be a hoebag and buy one himself. Wtf?

Anyway surely you guys would be interested in those programming books, and rising seniors in the review books. I'll combine stuff if you buy more than one (like say all 3 review books for like $25) I'm just leaving in 10 days and need to get stuff out of my room.

I updated the list and prices. I also added some pictures of the computer.

I also want to sell the books as well as the games in bulk, so I put lump pricing which I think sounds fair. $25 for the 3 school related books (cheaper than just the SAT book), $35 for all of the programming books. $50 for all of the books. I don't program anymore but surely someone here does.

As for the games and software, $40 shipped seemed reasonable to me since there are some good titles in there. HL 1/2, CoD 1/expansion/2, WoW, etc.

What kind of harddrive? SATA?

How fast is the ethernet connection?

How many free PCI slots?

How many RAM slots? How much can the motherboard support? How fast can the RAM be?

I'm posting from my phone so if you answered this already I apologize, but at $300 I honestly might consider it. I'm looking for a media center pc and my buddy may sell me his for $300 as well... so I'm asking on small details now.

The harddrive is ATA (IDE)

The ethernet connection is 10/100.

The motherboard has 5pci slots total, 1 AGP, 3 RAM slots. The motherboard can support up to 3gb.

I could do better using eBay's trade in service.  Your offer was an insult, and would have barely covered shipping and packaging charges.
