Well, considering SATA 2 is 3.0 Gbps, it'd only have to be 2-3 drives, depending on the configuration.  Hell, my RAID can do that.

Yeah, harddrives would have trouble with it, 40-gbit network cards are extremely expensive and hard to find, and servers (hell, Internet backbones) wouldn't be able to serve that quickly. Even with bittorrent, your ISP's network would probably be under too much strain.

Although, considering this is a granny's first computer and it runs Windows, it's going to make a hell of a bot.

It's a demonstration of backbone interconnect technology and not access technology.  An equipped CRS-1 is going to set you back more than your current house.

The point of the demonstration was not to say "this is a residential connection".
