Was yesterday. I left work at 11:30, had a Big Extra at McDonalds at 11:45, then hopped on the train to the university. I got there at about 12:15, stood in line till 1:00, then went in and stood in front of stage (on the edge, however -- I don't like being in the middle) until 10:00pm. That's 9 hours in the same spot with no sitting, food, drink, or bathroom breaks. But it was worth it to see Gwar up close again
These were the bands in the order they played:
2Cent
Goatwhore
The Number 12 Looks Like You
The Acacia Strain
The Devil Wears Prada
Darkest Hour
Amon Amarth
Job for a Cowboy
Shadows Fall
Every Time I Die
Chimiara
Gwar
The only bands that people seemed really excited about were Amon Amarth and Gwar.
On the way back, the train took a long time to show up. By the time it got there, a ton of people were waiting for it, so the train was packed full of metal fans. I felt pretty bad for the people on the bus who weren't involved, though, because metal fans can be.... scary?
. I think the best part was when a guy decided to crowdsurf, and surfed went from one end of the traincar we were in to the other (~the length of 2-3 buses) and back, a couple times. It was pretty funny to see somebody crowdsurfing a train!
So yeah.. it was a good time, but it was nice to get home, drink a lot of water, and have a shower.
