Title: Sorry to Newby
Post by: iago on February 26, 2006, 10:30:29 pm
Yeah, I was planning on going to Safeway with my mom.  But here's how my day went:

- Go to home Depot to get some flooring stuff [spur of the moment]
- Go to Future Shop (basically, Best Buy) to get new headphones (mine broke)
- Go to Walmart to get food
- Make cinnammenen rolls/buns/whatever
- Make more cimeinen rolls
- Make coconut-bananana-loaf
- Make salad
- Do some cryptoquotes
- Barbecue hamburgers
- Eat supper
- Do more cryptoquotes (with Mom)
- Watch Redeye (Red Eye?) (awesome movie)

And here I am.  Sorry I never got a chance to come back on AIM :)

Keke owned.
And the name is "Red Eye," as you may have thought.

Redeye didn't look right, but "Red Eye" seemed to have too many spaces.  So I took a guess :)

I got distracted and forgot about you! Hah!
Awesome!  And to think, I nearly felt bad.

It was ok, but not great.  I liked Flightplan more, although Flightplan is a lot less realistic.

Really? Besides the fact that it deals with supernatural things, I thought it looked alot more realistic than Red Eye was. Just too many "good guy always wins" things.

There's no supernatural.  Are you thinking of "Forgotten" (I think)?  That's where his (her?) son disappears on a plane trip and nobody believes him (her?).

Flightplan is when the woman is on the plane with her daughter.  She falls asleep, and wakes up, and her daughter's gone.  She ends up panicing, and they discover that her daughter died before she ever got on the plane, etc..  The part that I thought was unrealistic was things like climbing into the conduits and shorting stuff out through the restroom.  There's other stuff, too, but I don't want to give away too much.

Red Eye didn't have many "good guy always wins" stuff.  Yeah, some, but in general she always got caught when she tried to get help, which I liked.  Adds the element of hopelessness.

But that stuff is too coincidental. And wtf @ her stabbing him in the neck with the pen, that would never happen, she would never be able to do that, and the stuff with the game of tag through the house at the end, that would NEVER happen. C'mon, that stuff is totally not realistic.

The commercials for Flightplan made it look very ghost-story -ish with the daughter's reflection in the window and then not, makes it seem strange and that is the reason I said "supernatural". I hadn't seen the movie, so I dunno.

Well yeah, but that's just movie stuff.  None of it is totally unrealistic, just unlikely.  Also, way to give away spoilers!

That never happened in the movie.  She looked outside the window a few times, and it's very eerie when she does, but there's never a reflection.  If there was one, it'd be in her mind.  Most of the movie is pretty psychological.
