Title: Wireless network issue when transfering file(s)
Post by: CrAz3D on March 29, 2008, 01:02:57 pm
I'm on a Linksys WRTG54 v6 wireless router and every time I transfer large files over the network (like 700mb or so) the Internet goes down for everyone on the network.
The firmware is up to date.

Does anyone else have any experience with an issue like this?  Is there maybe some setting on my router that prohibits/caps such transfers?  I've downloaded files online from multiple sources (torrent) at speeds similar to the router transfer (1mb/s via router vs. 900kb/s via torrent).

The network keeps going, though, just the Internet goes down.

I actually had an issue with that router when trying to use a vmware console remotely, which uses a lot of bandwidth. It would die till I restarted the router.

I never actually figured out what was going on, I just stopped trying. :(

That seems to be about what I might end up doing ... or at least transfer big stuff when no one else is online

Not that it matters all that much, but my WRT150N doesn't have that problem :X

::)

Hopefully this extra recently (like few days old) firmware update will help.  I'll try later, though
