Haha lame, I got Windows 95 (http://www.bbspot.com/Images/News_Features/2003/01/os_quiz/windows_95.jpg), yuck! Then again, I got .mpg (http://www.bbspot.com/Images/News_Features/2004/10/file_extensions/mpg.jpg), and that could be because I answered "^_^ AN1ME is w00t! LOL!!!1 kekekekeke". I've come to the conclusion that these quizes were complete BULLSHIT.

You suck at life.

Apparently, I'm also OS/2 Warp, and too lazy to do the extension thing.

And I thought my result was bad! Oooh man, I feel your pain. At least yours is somewhat secure though, I can just feel the vulnerabilities of 95 merging with my soul. :(

EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW   I'M MAC OS/X!

OS X is elite.  Linux > OS X > Windows > OS9-

It's secure, stable, and (ugh) pretty.

I share your love for the command-line, but only when I know how the OS works.  At least DOS came with a Help program and I could learn the commands; Linux commands suck.

But your attitude about it always reminds me of a Dilbert comic....

Old co-worker: When I started programming, we didn't have all of these sissy "icons" and "windows."
Same guy: All we had were "0"s and "1"s -- and sometimes we didn't even have "1"s!
Same guy: I once wrote a database program using only "0"s.
Dilbert: You had "0"s?!?  We had to use the letter "O".

You're insane!

Almost all linux commands are programs, so if you want a list:
ls /bin
ls /usr/bin
ls /usr/local/bin

If you don't know what one of them does, try:
man <command>
info <command>
<command> --help

Generally, you'll get different levels of help from each of those.  I'm not too familiar with "info", but I think you can type it on its own to get a big bad list of topics.  Or, if you like man, you can do "man -K <search string>" to search all pages for that text.

If NONE of that is good enough, try www.tldp.org or www.linuxquestions.org or irc.prison.net #linuxhelp, they are all full of linux Gods who know everything there is to know.

Maybe, but in DOS all I had to do was type "help". :P

BTW, I did manage to load an HTML file in Lynx yesterday!  Text-based browsing rocks!  JavaOp's site is the only one that works :P

[edit: I'm *.SWF, woot!  (http://www.bbspot.com/Images/News_Features/2004/10/file_extensions/swf.jpg)]

In Linux, "help" is a Bash command that will give you help on the Bash shell, which makes sense in a way.  "info" is probably the equivilant of what you want :P

It's in one of the Dilbert books I have. I've always liked that one, along with this one.

Boss: It says the grade for your project is a C. This is very poor.
Dilbert: That's the language it was programmed in.
Boss: Could you possibly program in B?

anyway..

Maybe, but in DOS all I had to do was type "help". :P

man on iago

I was thinking about that when I saw the new site.
