Title: Topics/Rules
Post by: iago on November 13, 2005, 08:15:11 pm
This is for the discussion of real-life (NOT computer-based) role-playing games.  War-games (like Warhammer) also counts.

Here are some examples:
- Dungeons and Dragons
- Tunnels and Trolls
- Runes Gods and Monsters
- Shadowrun
- Warhammer
- Warhammer 40k
- Warhammer Quest
- Necromunda
- Mordenheim
- Gamma World
- Recon
- Call of Cthulhu
- Pheonix Command
- Generic Universal Role Playing System (GURPS)
- Battletech
- Cyberpunk

And any others you can think of.  Any kind of discussion is welcome!

(Note: this thread is not locked.  Feel free to discuss anything about this)

Awesome!  Sounds like good jolly fun.  :)

I think my boss is going to host a role-playing party for his next "game night."  I'll be sure to let you know how it goes.  I'll try to pay more attention (actually retain) how he does things like character generation.

I know all of the sheets he has (for items, characters, etc) he's done electronically.  Maybe he'll send them to me and allow me to upload them to show you all.  I'll try to talk to him tomorrow.

Sweet!  I'm wondering about making an online version of Warhammer Quest.  Similar rules, would have to be a totally different game due to copyrights.

Now that I think about it, WHQ is pretty rogue-like :)

Hehe, that would be pretty fun.  Yet another project to put on our lists!

I really do think that we ("we" meaning whoever's interested) should consider doing the GM software project.  I think it would be a lot of fun.  :)

Haha, yeah.  Well, I'm totally in favor of it, once I have free time.

A very good one I used to play (years ago) is GURPS.  GURPS basically takes the core of D&D, the expands on them infinitely.  GURPS is like a base class of something, which each different GM uses as a base for his/her game.  I played 2 medieval and 1 futuristic GURPS games, and they owned hardcore.

There was also another one with giant robots (like...kinda real.  Little metal die-cast robots, it was pwn).  Anyone know the name of it?

Yeah, I actually forgot about GURPS.  I thought about it during the day today, and meant to add it to the list, along with Cyberpunk.

And are you talking about Battletech?  I also forgot to add that one.

BATTLETECH!! That's the one :D

That was fun, especially when I always used heavy ass mechs and overheated a lot, though I always destroyed my enemy on my first turn.

My friend made a restriction on which Mechs we could use: only medium/light.  I didn't like it much anyway :-/

My neighboor is a die hard Nerd. He is 20 and he has the 31 biggest guild in wow all severs all fractions. Anyways My point is he host a RolePlaying starwars game night every saturday night. I went for the frist time last week and it was hella fun. We were all on Naboo fighting our way through the Naboo soilders. I was a Droid commander and it was hella fun.

I don't see how having a big guild in WoW upholds a nerd status.  In fact, I think that would kind of suggest the opposite, seeing as a typical nerd is passive and submissive.  :P

Additionally, this should have been posted in a new topic; it doesn't make sense to put it in the "Rules" thread! :P
