Math Analysis
It's what they call Pre-Calc =/Math Analysis
What's the topic/central point of that class? Sounds kind of interesting.
I don't know yet, by the way. I'll be moving to college sometime this summer.

Yeah, it's basically just Algebra 3. I took it last year and it wasn't that bad, so have fun. It's what they call Pre-Calc =/
That's a retarded title for Pre-Calculus. :P

They ran out of names. It's supposed to sound interesting, that way they can get people to take math classes outside the required amount. Duh.

I like how the majority of schools limit the amount of AP classes one can take per-year to 4, the rest just hit you for being retarded if you sign up for more. If this is your class schedule for next year, you're truely stupid. If it's not, then your post is irrelevant.
LOL ART HISTORY hahahahahahahaa. I'm sure that when you go to an interview for a cubicle job they're going to ask you who painted something. :)

Nope.. Suprisingly it has little to do with trigonometry. :)Yeah, it's basically just Algebra 3. I took it last year and it wasn't that bad, so have fun.
I thought it was more like Trigonometry. ;)

I took the class, goofball. :P
Um, I highly recommend taking a social psychology class at some point. It's pimp!
They're not going to reject you just because you didn't take art if you've got everything else. And considering that newby is going to end up applying to somewhere technology-based, I doubt they're *really* going to care about art. But that's just me. I hate art, and I don't have to take it because I took part in the summer musical building sets. I own.LOL ART HISTORY hahahahahahahaa. You'd be surprised at how much colleges look for well-roundedness.

I would take more AP classes if my school actually had them and they didn't suck.
For us, Trig/Math Analysis/Pre-calc is synonymous.

Hey, sorry if you're too stupid to keep up with >4 AP classes. Not everyone is.
They will if you've taken all the same classes as someone who also took Art History while you didn't.How many times is that going to occur? :P
Again, you'd be really surprised at how many colleges look at well-roundedness. The college application process is much more an analsys of your personality. It certainly heavily concerns academics, but you're going to be spending a great amount of time at this school -- they want to make sure your personality is an acceptable fit for their school. The classes you take can be a powerful representation of what suits your personality.True they do look at well-roundedness, I'm not disputing that. But I'm saying that in my opinion, they won't overly care about it.
It doesn't matter if you hate it. That has nothing to do with the fact colleges are going to like the fact that Newby is taking a diverse range of classes.I was going to add [so I might be biased] but I thought that was inferred.
Just because I can handle 6 AP classes and you can't handle even 4 doesn't mean I'm stupid. :0

It's not my fault my school's AP classes are either "go AP, or go college prep".
Essentially, go honors, or go with all the failures in life.
No fucking thanks will I do college prep classes again, from this year's experience in them.
I do nothing and pass with an A. I'm sick of it. I do nothing to the point where I have a 20% in homework in math and I still manage to have a 90%. Argh.

Clearly a lot if someone like Newby is taking Art History. It's actually a popular class at my school (even among the smartHaha. Most schools force art classes to be taken. Mine does. Honestly, I think that required classes should be dropped and students should learn what they want to. Forcing people to take classes they will NEVER use in life is retarded, and a waste of the 7k that taxes spend on me.

It's something to look at. You basically said it was useless. Your mistake. :PArt in my opinion is useless. ;)
It was (and I realized it, too), but don't expect me to not reply. You like picking apart posts, I see.

If you lack the insight to see the use of forcing children to take a wide variety of subjects, I pity you.I don't lack it, I just find it stupid. I already resent the subjects I'm forced to take. If I had some real interest in them, I might pay attention during class/would take them if they weren't forced upon me. As you might know, these include English and Art predominately.
Again, I hope you're not saying that in a serious tone.I wasn't. I like art, but not "pretty-picture" art. I like the art that goes into computer design (i.e. making of Shrek and video games and stuff) but I don't like the "physical" art that's hanging in museums. Now if those were in lossless quality...
It's easier to reply when it's made clear what I'm retorting. ;)Or so you think!

Newby, I would suggest taking Honors classes to supplement your schedule, there are alternatives to Advanced Placement.

That's just the thing. There is no honors classes.
It's either AP US History, or college prep US history.
It's either AP Literature, or college prep literature.
AP Calculus, or AP statistics. There is no honors for either.
Spanish 7/8 College prep, or AP Spanish.
Physics college prep, or AP Biology/Chemistry/Physics.
AP Art History, or college prep Art History.
See how my shitty school works?
I am in the same boat as newby, there is no honors english next year for me. Its college prep, or AP, no other choice. Same with my math, same with my science, same with my history. Its AP or CP. I thought my 4 ap classes was goign to be a load, you should consider takeing 5 classes like me newby.Newby, I would suggest taking Honors classes to supplement your schedule, there are alternatives to Advanced Placement.

I contest that there most be non-AP AND non-college prep courses that fulfill the graduation requirements, like.. normal courses. If not, then your school is encouraging too many people to join AP classes, a clear indication that tey are not up to par with the level that should be expected of a college course. That means you're really not getting any favors, chances are you will fail the exam due to lack of preparation, and all your work (if any) will be for naught.
Do you understand why I am telling you that it's not a good idea to take so many AP classes? Or even advanced classes that are easy?
AP classes are designed to be college-level and extremely difficult. Many college students don't even have 6 classes per day. If you can get sufficient grades in all AP classes, your school needs to re-evaluate their difficulty level. I was saying that many schools do not allow you to take more than 4 per year because, at the difficulty level they should be, it would be too much effort.
I believe mine will be as follows:
CISN 300 Network Systems Administration 3 Units 9 Weeks
CISP 360 Introduction to Structured Programming 4 Units Full Term
CISP 370 Beginning Visual Basic 4 Units Full Term
CISC 324 Intermediate Linux Operating System 1 Unit 9 Weeks
CISS 300 Introduction to Information Systems Security 1 Unit 9 Weeks
It's a requirement for two of the Associates Degrees that I'm going for. If it wasn't for that then I wouldn't be taking it. The name's also misleading—It's Visual Basic .NET. ;p
This summer will mark the end of my boring intro classes. hehe.

I know why you're telling me not to take all these AP classes, but you have to realize that the AP classes are really just slightly-above-honors level. :/
oh yeah, you didnt take 7 classes your freshman year, so you cant do 5 junior and senior year.I contest that there most be non-AP AND non-college prep courses that fulfill the graduation requirements, like.. normal courses. There are no non-AP/non-CP classes for calculus, statistics, 4th year Spanish, English/History (Senior year there are honors classes! hooray!), biology (1st year college prep/remedial or 2nd year AP), chemistry I am in honors but the AP class = 2nd year, physics is honors I think but requires the completion of calculus, and Art History is AP or college prep. And if there aren't enough kids for the AP Art History, everyone gets put in the college prep one.
I know why you're telling me not to take all these AP classes, but you have to realize that the AP classes are really just slightly-above-honors level. :/
Towelie -- I may drop biology, but I'd rather take only 5 classes my senior year.
Need I say it again? If it helps you sleep better at night, go for it.
Things you don't like are clearly useless.Of course. The world is based around me because I rule.

last year our valedictorian had a 4.7 or 4.8.... I can't remember. Wait... we had 3 last year... it was gay.

Honestly, I think the largest constituent of GPA by an overwhelming amount is determination. While this is obviously a great trait in a person, I honestly don't think someone's GPA is an accurate reflection of their intelligence. Our valedictorian this year is pretty smart, but I don't think she's nearly as smart as a few other people in my class. *cough*

Of course valedictorians aren't always the brightest, but they played the game, and that matters much, much more than someone saying how smart they are with a 2.5 GPA.
I agree completely. Last year, one of our valedictorians really was an idiot. Seriously, she got through high school with a 4.0, but when she went on to college, she got a wake-up call like no other. She failed her calculus and chemistry classes. She never really understood the material to begin with, so I guess she deserved it. Oh well, but seriously, has anyone ever heard of a valedictorian flunking out in college?
I'm wholly aware of this, but it annoys me that people automatically revere someone who has been awarded valedictorian as a genius. Sure, they've learned the material, but that doesn't necissarily constitute the actual understanding of the material (by no means am I saying this is the case for you; we both know it's not :P). The person who will likely be validictorian in our class is definitely smart, but she's not smart compared to about three of my classmates (Jeff, Myself and Lihao; I'm pretty sure you've met Jeff. Maybe not, though). Jeff is smart, but he doesn't try the least in school. He doesn't even take hard classes. Lihao and I take hard classes and try when it sounds interesting. :P
Well, it's not like that in our school...Our valedictorian is actually the smartest person I've ever met, and he's won all sorts of awards...
