Newbie, webpages is teh easy. I had my XHTML course today, I swear I paid 200$ to learn that XHTML is stricter and instead of <b> you have to use <b />

Nubs.

Yeah, pretty much that's the only difference I noticed.  I thought bold was <b> .... </b>, though, because it has a closing tag.

Anyway, I have more complaints about this lab, but I can't do it right now, for my life is in danger.  Or something.  Stay tuned!

Ok, at a different work station now.  Anyway, the guy next to me was driving me crazy.  He had horrible breath, and was running Gaim with the sound turned up.  I hate it when a computer makes sounds, I always disable all sounds unless it's a game or something, and this guy was receiving messages every couple seconds.  And did I mention that his breath smelled horrible?

Also, the people taking the class were clearly retarded.  Or they knew nothing about Unix, and some guy was trying to explain Unix and Vnc and Ssh and Putty and lots of other stuff, and they were totally lost.  And the guy explained it the same way I would have -- poorly, and in a way that assumed they were comfortable with Unix.

Ok, that's my rant.  gg.

Oh, also, he gave somebody guff for maximizing a window.  Apparently that's not allowed.

lol, I was in my webcourse today and they were talking about using Putty to login to our server to upload our webfiles, and everyone in my class except me flipped out saying "WE DONT KNOW LINUX"

You mean, like, all at the same time? Like, 20 people simultaneously broke out in panic and said that?

Just about, they kept arguing they don't know how to use it, I was like, it takes about 3 commands to upload a damn file, you'll get over it. Then this kid started talking about unix and how he's great at it, I asked him what distro he used and he said... mandrake

*slaps head*

I couldn't even dignify that with a response.

The correct response is to glue a block of wood to his head, of course.

What computer science classes does your high school offer, anyways?

That would have been much better :)

My current school has many Mac, Windows, Unix, and Linux labs.  Windows range from horrible ACN labs (no idea what it stands for) to really good Windows XP machines (for CS students) totally pimped out with VS.net and tons of software.  I generally stick to the Unix labs, although it's a toss-up betweet using Solaris and Red Hat :/

Using <b /> would really do nothing....

Yes I know, the only difference I've noticed so far between 4.0 and XHTML is that XHTML is treated as a super strict 4.0, along with the tag difference, there is no absolute necessity to use XHTML.

Edit: I meant to say <b> < /b> my computer formatted that by mistake because it sucks.

and <br /> or whatever. But everyone just uses <br> because we're all lazy bastards.

I use <p class="...">..........</p> everywhere on JavaOp's site.  I wonder how close to valid xhtml I am.  The only thing I can think of offhand is <hr> should be <hr \>
