Yup. I stuck in my StarCraft CD, and ran my mount script, and it popped up automagically in GNOME. I double-clicked setup.exe, which automagically opened in WINE. I installed it. Woo!
I clicked Play Starcraft. Crap. My starcraft CD isn't in the drive. /emotear

I made shortcuts in dosdevices to make d: and e: work exactly like /cdrom0 and /cdrom1 (where I mount my disks). It worked for StarCraft but not Diablo II. Ugh. Oh well, I'll live.

Diablo II has copy protection. You might need a crack or loader, but loaders don't usually work in Wine since they call weird API functions.
-
I wonder (and doubt) if VirtualDrive would work. I run Diablo 2 fine without the CD with VirtualDrive.
-
I noticed I had trouble imaging Starcraft as well. Like iago said, Im pretty sure it has copy protection.
-
Have you tried dd'ing it to a .iso and then mounting the .iso?
-
Starcraft has no protection, it works.
Diablo 2 uses a disk-verification routine that Wine (probably) doesn't emulate. I find it very unlikely that dd'ing it will help, but it's not going to hurt.

I have LoD mounted on Daemon Tools, and the only way I can run it, is by the D2 Loader. (http://d2event.net/index.php?id=Info/fixed_d2loader_1.11_bug) Of course, reading what iago said, my post was almost a complete waste of time. :)

If I rip the D2 LoD CD with CloneCD, it works perfectly. :)
-
Come to think of it, Diablo 2 wouldn't run on my computer at all, with the real cd, until a pretty high patch.
Try patching Diablo 2 without Battle.net, then running it?

I wonder why I couldn't image broodwar then. :\
Or maybe I'm just remembering wrong. It's probably that. =P

I imaged my diablo two sucessfully with Alcohol 120%, just I had to set it to the right cd protection. I've had no problems imaging starcraft or diablo2, but I couldn't image my Windows 95 disk, weird.

Now that I think about it, it was D2XP that wouldn't image. I'm pretty sure all the rest of them did. If D2XP is supposed to image, then I blame it on my scratched up CD.

I also imaged Agarwaens Diablo2 LOD cd, and its what I use. It might be just your scartched up disk. :P

Damn it all.
