That isn't too surprising.  Druids can do almost everything a pally can do, and then some. :)

QFT. Paladins suck, druids somehow manage to suck more :)

I'm just doing a hell of a lot more damage so it's going by quicker.  I leveled my paladin holy from 10-70, so leveling feral is going smooth.  I'm critting for over 2k with a few abilities and I'm kind of under geared.

http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Maelstrom&n=Velanis -- Druid

Haven't really played my paladin since I hit 70, so his gear blows.

I'll be on Maelstrom permanently.  ZeroX isn't on when I'm on so there's no real reason to transfer over there.  I've actually got a shaman alt I plan on leveling on Crushridge.

And don't join Warrior's fail guilds.  The guilds he joins always end up dying.

Nice, I'll probably have my second soon. There is some guy in my guild who is working on getting his 7th character to 70.....I don't think he does anything but play WoW though  :-\

Haha, there's a guy I know here that claims to have a level 70 for all classes.  I'd normally believe that, but he also claims that he works 40 hours a week and does school full time with my majors.  I can't do classes and either of the other two without knowing how to slow time, lol.  This is also the guy that cried when he was a junior because some freshmen made fun of his dragonball z t-shirt, though.  :)

We actually have this guy on our server who has, no joke, about 10-13 70's. Not sure why he needed multiple of some classes, but, they all have arena/PvP epics; but, literally, he LIVES on WoW. It's his life. He raids with us every now and then, but.. He didn't even have any of his characters keyed for a while (for kara that is). Or heroics. He just PvP's a fucking crapton, and has ten times better gear than my druid.

The guy is famous on my server (I got chewed out in guild chat when I called him a nub in heroic BF, haha) for being the most amazing PvPer... Too bad his PvE skills lack. And his voice on vent is hella annoying.

At this point, it's not hard for me to believe people have a lot of 70's. If you started out with 3-4 60's pre-expansion, if you weren't busy raiding once you  hit 70, and did *nothing* but WoW.. well, it's possible. But those people only gain recognition for having no life. XD

Recognition  on WoW is cool if you've got a geared character, or you're great at PvP. When you play THAT much, recognition should turn into rehabilitation.

i only considered myself addicted to wow for like 2 or 3 months, while playing my priest. i never thought i'd level another char after quitting the priest, but i ended up leveling a warrior to 70, also. i also finished off my friend's mage to 70. and, now im playing on this 70 rogue i traded for. ive gone through a lot of 70s, but don't really play enough to even raid beyond gruul's lair. it's easy to get 70s, that's just part of the game, but it's tougher getting the raid items ebcause that's when the game starts requiring you to study fights, and stay on even if you dont want to, sometimes.

but, with that said, im considering starts a new warlock. lol. they look leet.

Yeah, for me the hard thing is being able to say "I can raid these nights at these times every single week"... that's why I'm in a guild that just cleared kara for the first time like 2 weeks ago.

but, with that said, im considering starts a new warlock. lol. they look leet.

I think "ding" came from the noise that is made when you level?  I don't remember what that noise is because I play with my sound off, but if I remember correctly it has a little ding to it.  Either way when you "ding" you level.  So instead of saying "I just leveled to x"  you say "ding x" where x is the level that you leveled to. :P

My rogue is old as well, I pvped on him for a bit long before I had any max level characters so he proudly wears his lame corporal title

Got it to 65 in a rush to hit 70 before 2.4 came out, obviously failed and was side tracked by new patch :)

Shadowstep is soooo much fun.

I start attacking? Polymorph, Combustion, Fireball (side effect: DoT, no vanish FOR YOU), Fire Blast, Frost Nova, Fireball, Fire Blast, DEAD.

He starts the attack? Stun, blink, polymorph and look ^.

Rank 1 AE if he manages to vanish

xalis killed afk ally mages when he was a BE (laugh) rogue. that doesn't count  ;)

Obviously the fight is going to start with the rogue in stealth, and fire mages have little chance against a rogue if they're equally geared.

Actually it would be more like stunlock, shadowstep to your blinks, hurt some more, cloak of shadows, hurt some more, you're dead.
Rogues effectively get a Shadowstep (25second cooldown), Cloak of Shadows (1m cooldown iirc), Vanish (2m cooldown iiirc) and then we get
Prep which resets ShS, Vanish, and Sprint cooldowns.

So if we're able to keep the fihgt going we can have possibly three shadowsteps and two Cloak of Shadows. Just because you've never fought a rogue who was past lv65 does not make your mage magically the only one who has a chance against Rogues.

Hemo Mace rogues have high amounts of mobility and burst DPS (ShS, Blind, Prep, Sprint, Master of Deception), a good Rogue will kick you every time you cast. Gently put, you would get raped without lube if you ever came across a Rogue who knew anything about anything.

Fire has a little more of a chance since they have more instants, but even then it's not a problem. Lol at being fire though.

WELL, the rogues I face don't have CoS nor shadowstep ^_^.
And, plus, if they attack first and stunlock me: Iceblock, frost nova, blink, polymorph and now I have the upperhand.
let me rephrase anywho, at this LEVEL, Rogues are cakewalk for me as a mage.

Anyways, I was banned again. This is gay. I was trolling in trade yesterday night when I was high lol.

Aside from you wasting Iceblock if you immediately break it, and using it for any long duration would be just a free restealth for me.
I find it interesting you're so into polymorphing, which as I hope you know heals the target. As a mage, with a limited mana pool, I don't think you want to beat around the bush.

With that said, Rogues still have ShS (Which puts them behind you without snares and with a 2 second sprint incase you instantly blink, which at most times is close enough range for a blind), CloS (Which clears frostnova and need I remind you is a 25 second cooldown) and good old trusty kidney shot.

Mages really are no problem for a Rogue once you hit 70, the thing which gives them the most headache are probably Shamans and Paladins. Even a Warrior can be worked around to an extent.

Yep, get a mage to AoE grind you through instances, you'll hit 60 pretty damn quick.  Do it twice, and with the free levels, you get a free 60!  Transfer off, sell.  Profit.

I was gone for 4-5 days on vacation over Thanksgiving and didn't play.  My other three 70s are over 1/2 to 71 and my DK is almost 63.  I was averaging about a level a day on my Druid, the last day or two I was farming leather for my caster set.

Hit 80 and raid with them. It takes work, as any other class, to do the proper amount of average dps. Death knights really level out a little prior to 80. It doesn't take much work, but getting to about 2k dps on a death knight isn't a free thing. I'm working on my hit rating right now, and going to spec over to frost/unholy and dual wield swords once i get about 350 hit rating. I'm a draenei so I can maybe slack on that a little, but meh... not too far away. The frost/unholy dual wield spec does about 3k - 3.5k avg dps depending on gear. In all epics I'd expect probably like 4-4.5k avg dps.

I wouldn't say it's hard.  Our off-tank ( who was 2H'ing as frost ) was pulling 3k DPS while tanking, we'll see what he pulls this week as DW unholy.

I didn't say it was hard. I said it wasn't free. Once you hit 80, you're not going to be doing 2k+ dps right away. You still have to do what every other class has to do, which is run heroics, 5 mans, etc, for nice blue items.

Meh.  I walked in Naxx pretty undergeared,  I had the crafted caster LW set along with some of the crafted PvP gear, very little +hit rating and was pulling right around 2k DPS on the heroic dummies.  Naxx isn't hard, so if you know a group of people who clear it you could probably tag along for a week or two and get geared.

As what class? Your druid? Boomkins have been pwning me in dps lately - or, the ones I group with regularly anyways. I'm on a pretty low pop server with c0ol (Ursin, Alliance), so it's kind of tough to find groups. I haven't even done Naxx yet, and I've been 80 for several weeks. =(

I was pulling a bit over 4k on my lock as affliction on my first naxx25 on patchwerk. But i had every item i could get from badges before we had enough people at 80 to raid. After we beat everything i burnt out hard, currently im leveling my dk rather casually, just hit 70. And dks are totally op. Maybe not in general but definitely for leveling.
Title: Re: The Ding Thread
Post by: warz on January 01, 2009, 03:14:18 pm
Yea, death knights may feel OP while questing, but just put it in perspective... mages have it easier, because of their high dps aoe and snaring. Mages can still pull more than a Death Knight. Death Knights can just solo elites fairly easily until the later stages of Northrend. Druids can solo elites better than a Death Knight, though, if they keep switching between bear and non-bear form for tanking and healing purposes. So, I mean, if Death Knights are OP, then these other classes must be mega-OP.

On my Death Knight though I can solo a lot of the bosses in AQ20. Some of the pulls you have to go through are tougher than the bosses. :P

I pull anywhere from 3-4k on Patchwerk Naxx10.  I'm also the resident imp-FF caster since we don't raid with a Shadow Priest, so it knocks my DPS a bit.

I'm not sure if I'll like/be good at tanking yet, definitely want to give it a shot though. All I've ever done is dps before so a change would be nice.

Right now I have 80 lock, 80 dk, 72 shaman, 70 rogue, 68 dk (horde)

I don't run Naxx regularly anymore ( I transferred and only do it on occasion ), I got into a Naxx25 pug the day after my server opened and pulled 4.4k on Loatheb w/o Heroism and lagging to hell.  I'd like to get into a decent Naxx25 run that can down Patch and see what I can pull.

I will say before I transferred our Hunter in Naxx10 was doing 9k DPS on trash.  I know it's trash, but seeing numbers that high from spamming volley made me cry inside.  :[

I tagged along with our guild OT before I xfer'd for this fight.  If you're bringing a friend to heal, it NEEDS to be a Druid so they can hop into bear when they aren't healing.  I wasn't paying attention and kept DPS'ing, soon to die because of the mana burn.  He managed to solo him though, it's just a longer fight.

This is the DK, though he was in his tanking gear / spec:

I did it with a resto shammy. Between mana tide, trinkets and natural regen it was enough to keep his mana up. I put together a really bad tank set (mostly whatever blues I could craft + blue/green quest rewards and a few boe blues from the AH) but I was at least uncrittable so the damage wasnt too bad to handle on my own, but I could never get passed 75% solo. With him there it was a cakewalk. Still took like 14 minutes though. No second binding :(. And elementium is going to be a bitch.

There's way more Prot pallys on my server than DKs, right now. There's tons of DKs too, though. I get spams every 30 minutes or so asking if I'm holy... being 80 will be nice. I should be able to get into just about any heroic or raid I want with the current lack of healers on my server.

Ugh. My Paladin is level 79... I played like all day today because I was basically hung over for like 75% of it. Did 78-79 today and guess I'll do 79-80 tomorrow. I'm ready to be 80 and go Holy. There's way more Prot pallys on my server than DKs, right now. There's tons of DKs too, though. I get spams every 30 minutes or so asking if I'm holy... being 80 will be nice. I should be able to get into just about any heroic or raid I want with the current lack of healers on my server.

healers lack on almost all servers, just because we are lazy and want to dps :)

Lol.  I got my Shaman to 80 and went Resto.  Our server has a huge lack of healers, but Shaman are wanted everywhere :P.  Can't beat Heroism!

On a side note, 3x80s and my DK is at 78 with 450resil, talk about some fun PvP!

yea, i was deciding between pally and shaman when i started. i started with a shaman and got to like level 12 and then decided to go pally. i kind of wish i stuck with shaman, now. theyre like the most underplayed alliance char, alongside rogues, i think.
rogues on my server are a rare sight, now. lol

Rogue are everywhere on my server.

In BC my main was a Resto Shammy, but I have since switched over to a Holy Priest (was a resto druid, but my guild needed a holy priest).

My Rogue is still 72, I rarely play him and when I do it's usually to PvP.
