The graphics are better than WC3's, but they do look similar to the artistic cartoony style of WC3. I've got graphics on it at max and it looks good. I still cannot figure out why it took so long to be released. It honestly looks like WC3, with higher resolution models. I've heard many complaints about it feeling too zoomed in, but I didn't get that feeling personally.

For me, this game is going to be one that I opt to not purchase. And, if I ever do decide to it will most likely not be for the gameplay, but more so for checking out the new Battle.net stuff.

Idea!

Write one for Android where you select certain apps, and kill them if they're idle for a certain amount of time. Or, better yet, you select certain apps and kill any OTHER app that's idle for a certain period of time.

I know on my version, there's a lot of apps that start in the background that I don't want, so I manually kill them. :)

that sounds like a pain in the ass, suprised no one has done anything like that imagine on alot of the newer smart phones u run into that i've seen blackberry's but that's bout it never used an iphone or android is there no interface to control what runs?

Periods. Use them.

Seems to me that you already know what you need to do. I'm not sure what kind of help you're asking for. Perhaps just confirmation on your approach? If that's what you're looking for then I think your entire idea is really bad. You've said why you want to do this ... but ... why?!

One of my professors suggested I look into starting a mutual fund. I'm considering it.

I've got an idea. Why don't you mutually fund your own ticket back to Africa.

Noooo!  b3t4!

:(

Yea. :(

Sadly, this change has been on the horizon for a long time. Torque had been trying to let b3t4.org expire, but had the domain on auto-renew for 2 year periods. So, we kind of had 2 years to prepare for this. lol. The domain, b3t4.org itself, expires in a few months anyways. I asked if he'd transfer the domain to me and he said no. He said he'd update the DNS but I don't see that happening.

At least now everything relating to my server, and TehUser's, are all in our control now. So, future proofing isn't as difficult.

General Discussion / beta irc server changes

I know various users check these forums regularly, and might have been afk during today's events.

I was experiencing the world's weirdest internet issue. My verizon fios connection at home was unable to ping or tracert my server's IP address. My server was online and functioning just fine. It was a routing issue on Verizon's end. They were taking weeks to even understand the issue, so I just decided to inquire about getting a new IP for my server. I had asked about getting a new IP for free, and didn't expect them to just give me one. I figured there'd be some kind of final confirmation or something. Well, they didn't give me any notice and changed my server's IP. I was able to change all DNS entries that I have access to, to reflect this change. I do not have access to b3t4.org's, though. So, irc.b3t4.org may come back sometime in the future if it ever gets changed, but immediate action was required and so the beta irc server now has a new "permanent" hostname.

Please use irc.betawarz.com, or beta.tehnet.org to connect to my server. TehUser's server, irc.tehnet.org, also still works.

No worries. It has already been provided by others!

There were 250 people in this irc channel all reverse engineering SC2 client last night, before they gayed it up and moved to a private channel. Now there's only about 30 in the private one. But still, some cool progress has been made towards allowing an offline game against bots, as well as an emu server.

That's not much compared to some of the people in my guild. These people all have 2-3 "main" characters, each with like 270+ days played. Most of them have been hardcore raiders since original WoW.

A friend of mine got into the beta and let me zip up a few of the more interesting files from his SC2 install. I doubt I'll ever actually poke around in them, though. I'd rather be able to see them in context. :-\

I watched all of season one of Weeds. It was entertaining at the time, but I remember seeing the first few episodes of season two and thought they were boring. Haven't seen an episode since.

Now, The Office is great.

I just realized that I have 5 level 80s on my account now. That's a lot of wasted time. :(

Granted, 3 of them came after heirloom items, and 1 was a result of RAF, so only 1 was truly 1-80 the "hard" way. I got my druid to level 80 in 2 weeks. The first week was easy, it was 1-58 using the LFG tool (amazing for leveling, btw) and the first parts of Outlands. The second week was finishing up Outlands and mostly Northrend.

The LFG tool is awesome on a tanking character. Starting at level 15 I was getting instant queues for dungeons. A dungeon was usually good for a half a level. So, if I ever got bored or tired of a certain zone's quests I would just queue up a few times and level past that zone. Easy mode for leveling now!
