I am just curious as to how many people out there spend the extra money on collector's editions of games.
Personally, I don't buy them. Usually, the collector's editions have an art book or a DVD detailing the making of the game, and I'm just not interested in things like that. Are these things worth it to any of you? Why or why not?
I buy some of the CE or LE stuff, but only if it's a good deal (for instance, FFXII CE was $10 more for a 2nd disc with a whole bunch of neat extras :D) Sometimes the extras suck, but eh? I like the behind the scenes and making of stuff. I really enjoy seeing how much effort was put into the games I'm playing.
I bought the collectors edition of Half Life 2 a while ago, but that's the only time I've ever done that. It came with a few nifty things, most of which I don't remember. It came with a T-Shirt that I liked, but its size was XL or something, so I ended up giving it away. The main motivation I had for buying the collectors edition over the normal one, though, was it came on a single DVD instead of 4 disks. I hate multi-disk installers!
I usually download the game to see if it's any good before purchasing it. If the collector's edition is a lot better than the normal edition, I would probably spend the extra $20-$30 and buy it...

I got one of those. Still in the original packaging, because I pirated it before it came out. I had a friend who worked at UPS at the time, and a copy fell off the back of the truck.
Halo 3 comes with a helmet I cant wait to wear it.
Modded Xbox 360 FTW!!!

Is that like "you're getting it cheap cause it fell off the back of a truck" or like it actually fell off the back of a truck?
I think he might have kicked it off the back of the truck, but there was definitely falling involved. The case was dented.
I didn't have to pay for it; I just threw it in my XBox, downloaded the files, made an ISO, and burned about 50 copies of it. Was selling them to everyone in my hall for $10 a pop. I had to remove the credits file so it would fit on a regular DVD, so if you ever beat the game it'll freeze at that point.
