Title: Most. stereotypical. frat. ever.

Federal charges, local charges, charter closed...ha!
The SAE charter at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque was closed recently for a few reasons including underage sex (eww).

I've thought about joining a frat, for networking and all. Wonder if I should even bother...especially since I'm already apart of College Republicans and Pi Sigma Alpha (national government/poli sci honor society)

Funny, I think SAE was in big trouble here a while back. They local charter was just reinstated a while ago, I think. Not that I care, but it was on the front page of the paper.

That article sucks too, are they talking about underage girls as in underage to be drinking? Because thats how its used in the rest of the article.

EDIT: Decided my post was asshole-ish and on par with the level of the stereotypical arrogant frat boy. My apologies.

I don't think you should, since you have such a hard time finding 1.5 hours to take a test within a 48 hour time span. Frats can often be a time consuming commitment requiring way more than 1.5 hours on a weekly basis :P.

Lmao.

I think my friend summarized fraternities/sororities pretty well: "Paying money for friends."

Heh, I agree...that's why I've decided against it ::), like I mentioned about CR & Pi Sigma Alpha

That said, I have to admit some of the frat houses around here look absolutely amazing. Others look really crummy, though.

There are NO frat houses here that look decent, even :(. That's why I dont live there :D

Plus, buying friends does sound lame (network is nice, though)

There's so much more to fraternities than "paying money for friends"

Besides you're most likely already friends with your pledge class since you rushed together. You pay money for house upkeep, chapter dues, parties, etc.

True, yeah, it's just an over generalization, but it's still expensive.

I don't think there's a whole bunch more to it, but I obviously the dues are sometimes used for practical things.

A social club and an academic club are much different to me.

My town is going to hell!

We need to get some cops that don't bust folks for "Minor in Possession"s and traffic, we need to catch this murderer, the drive by shooter, the muggers, etc. that we have.
Our recent spike in violent crime is ridiculous!

I have no idea why this is in this thread (want me to split it off?) but, in any case, I love the page's title:

Las Cruces Sun-News - BREAKING: Report: elderly woman found "hogtied" in pool of blood (11:22)

I didn't feel the need to start a new thread to show that my city is falling apart.

And yeah, you should see some of the bad stuff that the website has, at times :o

WTF!? I hope that punk ass kick gets the shit beaten out of him by his parents (it won't happen :(), by the justice system (it won't happen :(), and the school (and that won't happen:().

We had a HUGE fight my junior year. One dude f'd up a security guard big he (kid was football player). Expelled from OUR high school so he went to high school across town. When he couldn't play football (school district order) his piece of shit parents sued.

I'm probably being too picky, but here goes anyways:

* One can't "close" a charter. It's a piece of paper. It can be revoked, stolen, even burned, or torn in half, but not closed. The chapter can be closed, which is one and the same with the charter being revoked/forfeited.

* Fraternity is a proper noun, and should be capitalized.

* Calling your Fraternity a "frat" is the same as calling your Country a "cunt."

* Drugs are bad, mmkay?

Yeah, because beating the shit out of him will totally solve the issues that's causing his behaviour, and he'd never do it again!

If they beat him hard enough ;)

...or they just punish him correctly

The only thing punishment teaches people is how to not get caught.
