As I was about to go out and take a few shots of my truck I realized that the slider was broken and now it won't engage the little contact points to open/extend the lens.
Any how, I need a decent camera. About $150, takes good shots while shaking...I guess quick shutter? My hand shakes and my mom's Kodak camera takes HORRIBLE shots, always blurry.
Suggestions?
canon cameras are the best so if you go with one go with a canon. depends on which model you get but almost all the compact have different program things for faster shutter speed and aperture.
Might I recommend a tripod? :P
But seriously, I have a little HP camera that worked very nicely until I cracked the LCD. It would take good pictures under almost any conditions. You can try most cameras in the store, too, if you are unsure.
If you want high end (read: pro level, but a tad expensive) go with Nikon. They are *the* best camera company.

Exactly.
If you're looking for a highend camera, you're looking at about a $2000+ price range.

Maybe a few years ago, but DSLRs are getting way cheap these days. You can get an amazing camera for a few hundred bucks now.

I'd rather not have my picture taken by a cannon :(

Since you're the only one who posted anything relevant ::)...
Cool, like the powershot? Where is a good place to buy?
Well, I was talking aboot a medium format camera (2"x2", rather than 35mm) which is even a bit much for some professional photographers to handle. I've seen some mediums get around ~5 grand, and some large (4"x5", 8"x10") format cameras get around ~20-30 grand. It's a bit ridiculous, but eh, it's a hobby no less.

You ask for suggestions on cameras, and people give you suggestions on cameras. Then you complain about it. wtf? Are you really trying to discourage people from helping you, or just trying to act like an asshole?
I sad about $150 and people start talking about cameras that cost twice as much as my first car did. That is not helpful at all.

I wouldn't call it bad, but it isn't helpful. I use a camera when I'm in tourist mode, going places, etc...not time to carry around a tripod in a backpack while strolling the streets of Austin or backpacking in the woods.

Did you read past the first two words (ie, the joke part)? To the part where I talked about the camera I have?
In any case, I'm definitely not going to answer questions in the future, I'll just stick to the joking part. I don't like being insulted when I try helping.

No, I did read past it...even looked at a few HPs. When I came back later I spose I forgot you had posted something helpful along with BAD.
Apologies.

BAD, BigAznDaddy :D
Oh, you want info on stuff less that 150$... I bought a Pentax Asahi at the swap meet for 10$ yesterday. Pretty cool camera. It came with a 50mm lens easily worth ~50$. Hope that doesn't really help.
