Heh. Fuck Demonoid. :P
I think you can just use a proxy that's not located in Canada and you can surf Demonoid.

Anything worth a hoot you can get on mininova or thepiratebay (Demonoid was basically an index, anything I got was hosted externally).
Anything worth a hoot hosted ON Demonoid had been a honeypot that resulted in C&D letters (BigAznDaddy, Trust, another kid I know IRL).
Slow download speeds. Lack of a selection.
I agree with you on the slow download speeds part, but as far as selection, they had one of the widest varieties around. Sure OiNK beat them with music, but OiNK's gone now. Come to think of it, Bithumen's gone now also. Three big private trackers in the past 3 weeks have been taken down actually. Damn. :(

According to the Demonoid IRC channel, the tracker is still working, and they expect the site to be back up soon:
[+mntrSCTf] Welcome to #Demonoid | Site is down, tracker is intermittent (sometimes up, sometimes down), No Current ETA is known. That is all we know...DON'T ASK | Alternate forums at www.demonoiders.com. Expect the site to return, unless we hear otherwise from Deimos.
Quote"The RCMP announced that it will stop targeting people who download copyrighted material for personal use (Google translation). Their priority will be to focus on organized crime and copyright theft that affects the health and safety of consumers, such as copyright violations related to medicine and electrical appliances, instead of the cash flow of large corporations. Around the same time that the CRIA successfully took Demonoid offline, the RCMP made clear that Demonoid's users don't have to worry about getting prosecuted, at least not in Canada. 'Piracy for personal use is no longer targeted,' Noël St-Hilaire, head of copyright theft investigations of the RCMP, said in an interview. 'It is too easy to copy these days and we do not know how to stop it.'"

If that's accurate, it's awesome!
Yeah, sounds like it could be true - the RCMP are giving up. :)

No, they're letting common sense prevail. In fact, they're taking the same approach that they did with marijuana. :)
Yay! :)
I love Canada too! Let's get married.
