Title: Super Mario Galaxy
Post by: MyndFyre on November 27, 2007, 01:48:54 PM
Overall, I think this game is not nearly as most of the people who've reviewed it have made it out to be.  I certainly don't think it defines any new ground in terms of platformers.  9.7, IGN?  I think not.

Don't get me wrong - it's fun, about an 8-8.5.  But motion is really awkward - particularly when you can't see yourself, though I guess I shouldn't be surprised that a 3-D Mario game has camera issues....

When they talked about "galaxies" in the game I thought they were talking about worlds, not little pieces of poop of which Mario is about 1% of the mass of the whole rock.  No wonder the ground shakes when he does a stomp.

The Wii's motion-sensitive controller only goes so far - it's really too bad that there aren't really specific motions.  Just "shake" and "point."  Though, it certainly feels more natural that Super Paper Mario.

Seriously, I think Miyamoto has been taking estrogen.  His games have become more and more childish over the years.  WTF?

Super Mario 64 was good.

Super Mario 64 was good.

Other then a few camera issues, that game had a lot of content.  I've beaten both the N64 and the DS version.  It plays pretty well on the DS, too, and the extra content is a bonus.  :)

As my friends put it, it's really fun when you're not playing it, and when you are playing it it's frustrating and you don't want to play.

I remember spending hours and hours on that game when I was younger :)
