Well deserved though.

Unless he was drinking and driving, I don't think it's well deserved. I must just be a delinquent though.
Yeah. I'd hope to be on my own when I'm 19... :p

She said that she had two rules with the car, and he broke one of them.
Does it say whether or not she paid for the car, though? If she bought the car, then I can understand. If he did, that's almost theft.
She bought the car around thanksgiving, IIRC.
In any case, she could have been meaner: she could have made him drink all the alcohol!

Agreed.
yeah but he's an adult, if he wants to drink let him..if he gets caught it's on him.

1. She bought the car.
2. She let him use it primarily but that came with two conditions.
3. He broke one of those two
4. She sold her car.

Yes I understand that aspect, I just think she overreacted. I'm not supposed to drink or have alcohol in the car, but I don't think my parents would sell it if I broke that rule.
I'd assume he was drinking while in the vehicle if he had bottles on the floor...
What kind of an idiot would do that anyways? You can get a huge fine for that.

That's why your parents fail, along with most other parents.

No I don't think they fail, I've come out ok. Selling the car would create an inconvenience for all parties involved. Now the guy has no ride, so he either has to have his parents take him or rely on a friend. If he needs to run an errand for his parents, how's he going to do it? How do the parents know that his friends are responsible drivers, etc.? Selling it was a waste of time and money.
He could.... I don't know... buy his own car?
I don't think she overreacted in selling the car, but the public humiliation was too much, in my opinion.
