Wine 0.9.9 and WoW 2.0.0 installed. Patching to 2.3 with a megapatch I had laying around (thank God, that thing is 700MB!), then the smaller patches, then trying to milk my FPS for all it's got. :)
Sweet. How well has it been working? How much trouble was it to set up?
By the way, I thought this said "Latest Linux Edition", haha.
Well, I made directories for the WoW and TBC installers, copied over Install.exe and the installer tomes, plus DirectX's install folder. I got the edition of WoW that came with the trial DVD, too, so that was like 10 minutes of my time, maybe? Ran a nice little apt-get install wine, waited a minute, that was done. Ran the installers with a straight-up wine Install.exe, no problem. From there, I was at WoW 2.0.0, piece of cake.
Copied 2.3.0 megapatch via flashdrive, and tried wine WoW-2.3.0-enUS-patch.exe and was greeted with a friend "There is no patch file to install." WTF? wine WoW-2.3.0-enUS-patch.exe -opengl -- it works. Now, I don't know why running the patcher in all of it's Direct3D awesomeness didn't work, but who are we to question teh Linux?!1.
So, the patcher killed itself at 19% and I gave up for now. I'm going to go ahead and upgrade to gutsy (that's a huge download) from dapper, get a better version of Wine, probably have to reinstall WoW entirely since I bet I killed it with a half-patch, and then try again.
You're probably going to be stuck with OpenGL whilst using Wine for WoW.
That's fine by me. The installer just wanted DirectX, so I was like, fine bitch, have it.
iago made me reinstall my vista hard drive, and since then, I've been too lazy. The HD is still on my desk, upside down, next to a bunch of other stuff, so if I get bored again this project shall continue! :)

It's a 30GB, so probably not worth it's weight in postage.

Doesn't mean I won't be able to put it to good use.
