It's a Canadian thing, but eh? Why not apply it elsewhere. :)
I can't. I'd die.
Sorry. I'll pass.
Work would not be so fun if the computers were off :(.
ha turing off electronics is like saying dont drive your car. and although it may have a positve effect no one is going to do it
Heh, you guys suck. I hardly touch my computer on the weekends. :)
I can quit any time I want.

Hahaha.
I'd consider it with more seriousness if I didn't need my computer for homework. I do a good deal of hw on the weekends.

Somewhat agree, depends on what I'm doing. I spend a lot of weekends with my girlfriend and when I do I don't touch a computer or *gasp* log on WoW for the entire weekend. If it is a lazy weekend and no one is around I sometimes vegetate in front of my computer all day.
When you live in a city like mine, there isn't many places you can go to "enjoy nature". :\
So many excuses...
I'll do it.

iago, make sure you don't turn off your server. I'll die.
By the way iago, please remember to turn off your server.

I'm going to have to take that risk!
Just a reminder; this starts in about an hour AZ time. My computer will be off until tomorrow.
iago's either about 5 hours late, or I'll live. o.O~
I didn't shut off the server, obviously. :P
I did, however, turn off my laptop for the full day (although I sent a message to my friend first saying that I wouldn't be online all day), and I didn't use my TV. Other than that, I used the normal stuff (iPod, cellphone, etc.). I feel that that was close enough. :)

Yesterday had nothing to do with the environment, at least, not according to sources I read.

tech shut off = energy saving = less dirty energy sources = green
or did you all decide to turn your electronics off because you thought it would be fun to live in the stoneage for a few hours?

I think you need to read the original story (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/04/28/shutdown_day/).

*shrug* think what you will.
Personally, I did it more for the fun of it than for anything else. I just decided to read when I wanted to watch tv, and to paint when I wanted to play with my computer. Much more productive, in my opinion. :)

I guess the term as fun as watching paint dry comes into play here.

Watching paint dry can be surprisingly fun/fulfilling. :)
