Title: Drinks...
Post by: while1 on June 23, 2008, 11:29:28 PM
So for all you of age members... what's your favorite alcoholic beverage?  This includes liquor and mixed drinks.

I'm so fucking bored here in South Bend, Indiana.  I find my evenings spent kicking back at the computer drinking my loneliness away and trolling.  Since I'm just so used of the cheap-o piss watery shit beer typical of poor college kids I haven't really explored the more finer stuff out there.  So now that I have some disposable income, I'd like to know what's good (in your opinion) and what's not.

Also suggestions on wines too.

EDIT:  No bitch drinks.

I like Painkillers* (mixed rum) and Tullamore Dew (whiskey).  There's also Kamikaze's, soko & lime, and surfer on acid (all shots).

*Painkiller
4 oz pineapple juice
2 oz Pusser's dark rum
1 oz cream of coconut
1 oz orange juice

Shake or stir ingredients, and pour over ice in a tall glass. Sprinkle nutmeg on top, and serve.

I prefer a good beer. I don't really like liquor, just because it makes me stupid.

Like? Or rather, what constitutes good beer to you?

Golden Monkey is a good beer, Flying Fish is also good, though for most people it's hit-or-miss.

You could also just get a Guinness.

I couldn't explain it in that post, which is why I didn't include it haha.

First of all, not a light beer. Also, I don't like very bitter beers.

There's a certain flavor that some beers have that I love, I have no idea what ingredient it is that does it or what the flavor is called, but I really like those kinds haha. I like Newcastle's Brown Ale. I like most Ales, I think those have the flavor I like. There's also this Canadian beer company from Quebec that has excellent beers-- one is called Fin du Monde.

Eh, I realize I will likely end up buying six packs of stuff I won't like- but I never waste alcohol, so I'll drink it, just not buy it anymore.  Still, I'd rather not go in blind and have something to branch out from.  Thanks for the suggestions.

Get together with 6 friends and buy 6 different 6packs of quality beer haha. You'll probably figure out what you do and don't like

Fuck Guinness.  Guinness Extra Stout kicks ass.

I'm very fond of most Sam Adams beers.  Are you a dark guy or more of a pilsner?

Beers: In order of epicness.
Some super-stout pub beer I had in Portland (Currently working on tracking it down)
Westmalle Tripel
Double Chocolate Stout
Samuel Adams Cream Stout
Stone Brewery's Smoked Porter
Samuel Adams Holiday Porter
Rest of Sam Adams collection (more or less)
Newcastle
Guiness

Should be trying Westmalle Dubbel tomarrow or soon. (The tripel was goddamn strong. 9.8% alcohol in one of them.)

Sam cream stout!?  I must find this!!!  We have about 15 of their beers on our cabinets in the kitchen (we save one of each beer we drink).

I'm a big fan of oktoberfests!

Yeah, I've had almost all of their beers. Liked almost all (not lite, and not IPA, I think that's it.). Only ones I haven't been able to get my hands on = Millenium and Utopia (mostly because they're like 100+$/bottle.

this is why you just buy miller/coors/bud every time, because you know itll always just satisfy that "meh" feeling that you don't quite hate. this beats buying some shit beer on a whim and hating the entire pack.

My favorite beer if from a New Hampshire brewery called Magic Hat; their #9 brew, a "not quite pale ale." It actually gets its flavor from apricots You can't get it outside of New England AFAIK.

Wachusett, a Massachusetts brewery, has an excellent repertoire of beers; their blueberry beer is famous.

Second to that, pretty much anything Sam Adams makes that doesn't have "black" or "brown" in its name. I've heard that outside of New England the quality degrades - but I find that hard to believe due to my next favorite beer.

Heineken! It's the world beer. You can go to any part of any country, go in to any bar, order an Heineken, and you know it was brewed in Holland. Very few international beers can say that. Along the same lines as Heineken is Newcastle Brown Ale, which has already been mentioned - they are very similar beers, though Newcastle is darker.

Guinness is always a favorite, but it'll fill you up like thanksgiving dinner. I'm partial to Black&Blues, which means Guinness floated over Wachusett Blueberry (it's a local thing, for a local beer - based on black&tan, which is Guinness over Smithwicks [read: Smiddicks], or sometimes nontraditionally Bass)

Magic Hat is pretty good. I don't like Guinness but it's my roommates favorite beer. I've only had it once but Athenian is really good, it's imported from Greece.

You really ought to backquote your tokens and quote your strings.

SPLIT `posts` FROM `thread` WHERE `poster`='warrior' OR `poster`='rule';

It'll help the evaluator find them quicker.
