Title: freeze on boot @ crcdisk.sys

...or something like that.

thoughts on restoring that file?  I need vista disc I assume?  Sucks.  I'm in Dallas now.

Yeah, you should try to use the Vista disc startup repair.

sad.  turned on (somehow) after sitting for a long while.  I'll just leave in standby as I drive around, meh.  yay back online.

run chkdsk as well, a corrupted boot file is a common problem

If chkdsk yields errors (even if it fixes them), I'd suggest making a backup and replacing the drive sooner than later.
