ok i dont know where to post this but anyways:
i have a dell vosotro 1000 and today i got 2 gb of ram to put into this baby but when i did i got the blue screen of death and my laptop wont boot up. so i put in my onld ram and it works. then i put in one stick of my old ram with one of my new sticks and the laptop boots up fine so i know both slots and the ram works fine.
i am running windows vista ( came with the laptop) and i was thinking about changing the os to XP ( but i have no clue how :P)
but anyways on the ram topic do any of you guys think you can help me with this dilemma
Try out memtest86+ (http://www.memtest.org/#downiso) and it'l tell you if the RAM is defective or not. :P
You don't know how to install an OS, hagen?

Sounds like your motherboard won't support that much RAM..
Good call, Dale.
Hagen, what mobo model do you have, what processor, and how much RAM did you get?
no my mobo can handle 2 gigs i have 2 ram slots so i put one 1 gig in at a time and one of them worked then when i put the other in by itself it came up with the Blue screen of death.
but i have a vosotro 1000

After you figure out what's wrong with the ram, you should get a new X2; they're cheap now. Your cache size makes me want to cry; 2MB minimum is my rule.
