...I leave for the appointment in less than 20 minutes . :o
It's gonna blowwwww
although
vicodin :D should make me a little happy.
I had 4 out (2 impacted) a few years back. My mouth was swollen for a few days, but the pain was negligible. You'll be fine.

Same, and I didn't take a single painkiller (except what they gave me while they were operating).
Mine were pretty nasty for about 2 weeks. In addition to the pain they packed this gauze medicated with clove in there for two weeks.... It's all I could taste. And it's NASTY.
eh, yeah it was okay, im in a little pain now, I cant really swallow pills so instead of vicodin i'm getting codeine mixed with tylenol, as well was some antibiotic.
but, in all good news, I am alive ;D

Heh, all I could taste was blood for a few days. Also nasty!

That's one funny thing, my dentist (or whatever the surgeon is called) was against the use of unnecessary antibiotics. He gave me a strict diet to follow for the week or so after I had them removed, which avoided things that would promote the growth of bacteria, and I was fine.
I think my surgeon prescribed antibiotics, but told me that I didn't need to take them unless I started to have problems. He told me the usual things not to eat (stuff through a straw, etc), but didn't restrict any of the foods based on any criteria other than "it'll tear up your mouth", I don't think. It all went pretty smoothly.
I went to school right after my operation, doped out of my mind on the gas they feed you. I took a test and went home.
It ain't shit.
haha yea, i got all four out at once too and was fine. i didn't need to take the codine pills at all. the only bad thing i experience was when the gas they gave me wore off - it hit me with cold sweats, and i got way light headed. it sucked.
I need to schedule an appointment to get my teeth cleaned. I'm sure they will tell me that I need the wisdoms out :(. The top two have already "come out."

I forget what now, exactly, but he said to avoid dairy for sure. And for drinks, he said stick to clear(ish) stuff (water, 7-up, ginger ale). Dunno why. :)
I had 3 out (the fourth was MIA) - the pain from the surgery was negligible, but I got a dry socket which was pretty painful. I'd nock myself out with a vic, and wake up 3 hours later. It took about 10 days to fully recover (to work my way off the vics).
They put me out for the surgery, and when I woke up I looked around and asked how long it would take for the stuff to kick in. About five minutes later, they were walking me to the car, and I nearly fell down twice. It was weird 'cause I felt perfectly fine, but didn't have the energy to maintain balance.
My god, suck it up. I had seven teeth taken out, and I didn't take a single painkiller. Of course, I wasn't swollen much either.. I was perfectly capable of running around and talking and eating solids pretty much right when I got home.. my folks didn't let me, of course. Haha
I don't even have wisdom teeth! :)

I don't either. At least, I don't think I do. Would I know?

Count your teeth? :P
You should have 16 teeth on the top and bottom, if you have wisdom teeth, 14 if you don't (32 and 28 total, obviously).
I had 4 removed and was awake with just novocaine. It's not too bad until they get to the root of the tooth. My jaw hurt for a while and my face was swollen for a few weeks. Other than that it wasn't bad at all.

Brilliant! If I have them, they have not surfaced.

Strange; I've never heard of anyone having
none. Is there some gene for having/not having them?
I don't know, but I don't have them according to my dentist a in January.

From wikipedia:
QuoteDifferent human populations differ greatly in the percentage of the population which form wisdom teeth, ranging from 99.8% in Bantu speakers to nearly 0% in Mexican Indians.[12] (http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pmcentrez&artid=1458632) The difference is related to the PAX9 gene (and perhaps other genes).[12] (http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?tool=pmcentrez&artid=1458632)
Obviously, people without have no wisdom. :)

Have you ever actually watched the movie? They don't actually name the shark.

Thanks, iago. I can sleep easy now.
For people like iago who fail at reading between the lines, I obviously was trying to determine if it was simply a freak case (the odds of a particular tooth not growing)^4, or genetic.
