Bonus: She makes him dial 911!
So she risked her life to save things that would have been replaced by insurance? Stupid.
OR she SAVED herself from being beaten to death by a 17. Better safe than sorry.
OR she RISKED her life for nothing. What would have happened if the 17 year old wasn't alone? I say she's an idiot.
I say she's an idiot for not finishing the job and ENSURING her safety.
woo hooo way to go granny!

I don't think that the article gives enough information to make the conclusion you indicated here. For all she knew he could have raped her or killed her.

That's *possible*, but I think it's far more likely that he would have taken her stuff and left.
But if the burglar or the accomplice had a gun, she probably would have been killed.
<edit> eww that you even consider the possibility of raping her! ;)
The sweet smell of justice. Serves those bastards right. I bet that kid was scared shitless.

You mean the accomplice you just made up?
To be fair, the article's last line is: "Charges have been filed against the boy and an alleged accomplice."

Yeah, what dark_drake said, I was talking about the accomplice mentioned in the 8-line article.

Yeah, I wasn't particularly hip to the idea that the kid would rape her, but you never know. There's old people porn too. :-X
She would have likely been killed regardless of whether she had a gun, unless the burglars were wearing masks, which I don't believe was indicated. Typically the only thing that keeps witnesses alive in armed robberies is the fact that they couldn't identify the assailants.
