Apparently, her boyfriend, who her father didn't know, snuck into her bedroom and .. well, he was naked (use your imagination). The father heard noises, and chased the boyfriend with a metal pipe before calling the police, striking him and causing head injuries.

I saw this on another forum and everyone was upset that the father got aggravated assault charges. They say since the guy is naked in the daughters room, he's fair game to get roughed up.
I disagree.. I feel sorry for the kid. It also needs to take in account other things, like the girl's age, the boyfriend's age, what was said, etc. All in all, it would have been more acceptable had the father merely used his fists, not a pipe. I think he used excessive force, but this is coming from someone who has been put in that kind of situation. I'd probably look at it differently had it been my daughter.
And seriously though, she's having sex in your house every night for a year, and you don't even know about it? That's some poor parenting.. or at least carelessness. Gotta hand it to the kids for getting away with it for that long.

I'd call it 'trusting enough to allow freedom' before I'd call it 'poor parenting' or 'carelessness'. Also, nothing in the article suggests the scenario occurred every night.

Whoops, I misinterpreted "for more then a year".. guess I should have re-read the article instead of going from memory.
And no, freedom ends at a certain point and being a good parent starts. If you're allowing her to have freedom to do that, then you don't get the right to react with a pipe-in-hand (no homo). At least, that's my own opinion.

I think that, if there really was freedom there, the daughter wouldn't feel the need to hide this for a year.
Of course, there could be other circumstances. Who knows?

He beat a perfectly innocent person. His intentions may have been "good", but he still injured an innocent person.
This is why people with a "shoot first, ask questions later" policy scare me, because this is just one example of a situation where an innocent person could be dead.

Yeah but it wouldn't matter if it was the 1st time he went over to her house or the 100th.. the same fate would have occurred. And it's kind of old fashioned to expect that he's going to need to introduce himself to the parents before they sleep together.

Why should he? Why do you assume that the kid wasn't under the impression that the dad was an asshole and he would treat him like dirt no matter what? Maybe he was avoiding him because his girlfriend asked him to. I think you're being way too presumptuous. Even if none of these things are the case, what gives the father the right to beat the kid over the head? Defending his daughter is a silly claim, since there would be obvious indicators that he was an attacker (i.e., the girl yelling "HELP ME DADDY!").
The father had every right to be angry with the kid, but he was absolutely in the wrong to do any physical harm to him.
fine i guess the father should not have beaten the dude over the head. i think he took it to an extreme. i am just looking at it from a fathers point of view. if my daughter was having sex under my roof and i didnt even meet the boyfriend or whatever i would definitly kick him out and put him on the street.or i would be pissed of that my daughter is a slut and take it out on the guy. but i all i think while the girl is under the fathers roof she should obey his rules.

I'd definitely be pissed too. I can definitely empathize with the father and I would expect him to be enraged. However, that doesn't excuse his lack of self control. He overreacted. I think kicking the kid out of his house and having a nice, face-to-face talk with his daughter would have been more appropriate.

I think it still wouldn't be excusable. You can call the cops to solve that one haha.
