Basically, be informed before you take a position about something. All modern day gun bans (excluding all out prohibitions on firearms) are based on cosmetics, not function & fact.
I didn't really follow the argument. He's saying that assault rifles are similar to some hunting rifles, therefore the outlawing of assault rifles is silly?
I'm sure this is a common misconception, but I don't think it's a cogent argument.
Removing emotion from politics in general. Wow, imagine that, running the country like a successful business.

I'm not sure that makes sense in general. I think it's necessary to base some policies on emotion on some level. Empathy, which is the source of many laws, I think, is clearly an emotional trait. I think you're more likely wanting to remove emotion where it isn't useful and there are more reasonable alternatives to turn to, though.
Did you watch the video? As far as I'm aware of, it didn't address any commonly contested area in the debate. Sure, let's remove the emotion -- especially emotion conjured from anecdotal evidence. Beyond that, I don't think this video was especially useful or harmful for/to either side of the argument.

The video addressed the misinformation we receive from the media.

Duh. :P
The 'correctness' of morals/laws are subjective.
