The first person to find the end and post the secret code on this thread will win the prize. I won't say much, and I won't be around for the rest of the night, but here's the link:
http://www.javaop.com/~iago/contest-8675309.html
I'm not going to reply to this thread unless there's a serious problem.
There are no real rules: if you want to post how you are doing it, or work as a team, I don't care. But only one person can win.
Finally, if you see this message somewhere along the lines:
Quotedude, where's my database?
Error: Too many connections
refresh or try again in awhile; that is due to a crappy site and is beyond my control.
Good luck!
[EDIT]: THIS CONTEST WILL NO LONGER WORK. I let a domain it requires expire, so oh well.

I am UBERLY confused :-(
/me gives up
Because everybody seems stuck, I'll tell you this: there IS something important about the "email".
I don't want to give anything away, but notice one thing: the lines are a wide range of different lengths. There's a reason for that.........
(disclaimer: the reason isn't obvious, however)
Broken link?

Did you get my email?
Since Dodgeit.com is down (lamers, ruining my contest), here is the second clue, an email:
QuoteFROM: John.Chammel@church.com
TO: x86-contest@dodgeit.com
Greetings, John Sparc
I am from a small online church, and I'm here to
inform you that we want you to have fun
while doing your part
to ensure that less fortunatee
people have homes
that they can call their own. Trust
me, you'll feel much better knowing that people are happy.
I just want you to know that I really am
on your side, and, although you might not believe, I
really am trying to help. So please, can
you take a moment to listen to me
and hear what I have to say.
I am from a small country near Charleton
which is in the country of Urgandu
near the Pacific Ocean. My church is on main/
5th street, in the absolute worst part
of the city. Why? We always try to save
our money for people who need it, in our charties
rather than wasting it on a habitat
for us. For a very small donation, you too can help
the less fortunate. One man from Alabama
gave us only $40, and got a hug
for his generosity. Wouldn't you love
to get that? I know I would.
If you are willing to donate, or even just wish
us good luck, please don't
hesitate to reply. God loves you, and I hope you are blessed by Him
- Reverant John Chammel
Just for another quick hint, yes, I chose the names "Sparc", "Chammel", "Charleton", "Ugandu", and "Alabama" for a reason.
Psst, what's the first clue? o_O
The first clue was the email address on the 404 page, but it seems that dodgeit.com has died for the time being :(
What are we supposed to be looking for? What kind of "code"?

I think that's the point of the contest: for us to find out. :)
Yes, exactly.. i'll post a new hint every day till somebody gets it :P
deadly7 -- why'd you lock this thread? :-/
Please let me know when your web page is back up. :)
Everything is up and fine now.
You all suck! :-)
Ok, next hint:
There's a reason I used "/" in "main/5th", and there's also a reason I put "main/5th" on separate lines.......
Good luck :)
It's either a directory or a username/password.
Does the incorrect syntax for the administrator email (that I pointed out to you on AIM) have anything to do with it?

I figured that out last night but what website are we going to?

Haha, ok, just checking. It didn't seem to make logical sense :P
Eh. The site's still down for me.
So? I posted the necessary data from dodgeit.com here, so you can use it.
I'm thinking of posting this on vL soon, since people here seem to have given up :)

Been too busy lately. Maybe I'll work on it tonight. :)
I gave up for the most part.
got a bit past the dodgeit area (i knew that the first day i saw it) but then lost all hope, much like an aids patient.

I don't see "main/5th" on anything in the paper.
Let's summarize the hints for level 2:
- The lines are weird lengths
- I picked the proper names ("Sparc", "Chammel", "Charleton", "Ugandu", and "Alabama") for a reason
- I chose "main/5th" for a reason
Now, here's another hint that should help a lot:
- Notice that all the proper names I mentioned ("Sparc", "Chammel", "Charleton", "Ugandu", and "Alabama"), they are all at the end of lines.

That's pretty neat, but I honestly had no idea :)
Ok, another hint:
Does this help?

Look at all these people, there was a chance some one would say that even if they didn't figure out the contest.

User account? It's hosted on my computer, much like the 404 page was :P
I just decided to continue after working on more important things, and have finished.
QuoteWow, you made it!
If you were the first, you've won the PRIZE! Please reply to the thread with the secret password:
"badgerbadgerbadger HEDGE HOG"
and, if you were the first, send me your address. Your prize will be in the mail!
SOLUTION
Sure:
Quote
1. Fake 404 page, email address is x86-contest@dodgeit.com. Go to dodgeit.com and check email.
2. Last character in every line spells "contest.mine.nu/testpage.html"
3. Fake "bandwidth exceeded" page -- view source for rot13-encoded url
4. Fake your referer with a FireFox plugin (RefSpoof I think) or by using telnet to send the request
5. Password is hidden on the line "<script src=JavaScript></src>"
your canadian trickery has succeeded
I got to 3. I'm too lazy to do rot13 and I have no idea how to spoof my referer. I am un1337 :[
Referer spoofing is EASY.
