I have a few extra keys for this game if anyone is interested. I'm not sure how much I can tell you in a public place like this because of the NDA, but I can tell you that it's a purist clone of DotA with a huge amount of improvements due to the fact that it has it's own engine rather than being a mod of Warcraft 3. Hit me on AIM if you need more info than that. The site is heroesofnewerth.com, but there's literally zero information there right now. I'm not sure how soon they'll be releasing details but it should be in the next monthish.
I'm horrible at DotA (Read: I've played it < 10 times, each time with a new unit), but I wouldn't mind playing/sharing an account with someone. I'd love to try it, but I might not play it more than a couple times.
It's a fun game but you are right, the learning curve is steep (actually, that's part of why it's so interesting). The DotA style game has been expanding into it's own genre with multiple titles recently trying to capitalize on the expanding user base. I won't bother wasting my breath about it's e-sport competitiveness but if you like fresh content often (more often than WoW, for example and at a fraction of the price or required time), it's worth giving a shot :)
Here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LY1Q0IsWWYE)'s a short youtube video that shows some clips from the 4 "MOBA" genre games currently out or in beta. The HoN graphics are a little dark because the video maker is pretty new, but it's the only video I could find that has been given the publisher's blessing to be spread around.
I should have plenty of keys available to let you try it out even if you aren't going to stick with it but let me see what kind of feedback I get before handing them out too quickly. I think the game will probably go to open beta by August as well.
I wouldn't mind a key. I used to play a good amount.
pm/post an email address for me to submit into the invite sender

If I can't get into it, I can always give it away, right? :)
Probably, but there's no password change function, so keep that in mind :)
I just received a bunch of requests. Currently have 3 left, 1 of which I'm reserving for a rl friend when the mac/linux clients are out. Working on getting 5 more. I'll get you in the next round if not this for sure blaze.
Sure! Thanks. :)
Alright, I have one beta key left and two requests (blaze and warz). 3...2...1...Fight!
I'll probably get 5 more in 1-2 weeks.
Give it to Warz.
Thanks :-)
Does this run on OS X?
The Mac and Linux clients should be out soon. If I had to guess, I'd say this week for sure on the Linux client, maybe another week on the Mac client.
This game is rockin'!

If you still have invites to spare once the Mac client is released I'd appreciate one.
It is likely that I will have more at that time, pm me your email and I'll get it done.
The visual appeal, and familiarity of bnet with this game makes it very cool. Individual matches take a very long time, though.
Obviously I don't want to go into detail here, but are you referring to the time it takes to find/start a game or the time required to play a game? The former is just a product of the limited beta userbase and because you aren't playing at a peak time (yet). Games usually take, on average, about 40-45 minutes for me but the average might be longer if you are playing a pickup game with less organization. Way longer than a counterstrike match, about twice as long as an average WC3 ladder game, but way shorter than a MMORPG quest or something.
I'm looking at 60+ mins if I do a match.
I seem to die quite a bit :P

My playing times vary considerably, but I'll add all of you and keep an eye out.

No. I was talking about the length it takes to finish a match. Yea, it seems to be about 45-60 minutes. The lobby mechanics and stuff, I was blown away by. The game is very polished. I'm in the League of Legends beta, too. I won't comment on LoL much, but I will say that the pre-game stuff of HoN destroy LoL's.
Ya, I haven't played LoL since getting into the HoN beta :)
Blaze, I had a friend send you an invite.
I got the email! Thanks. :)
People kept kicking me because I hadn't played a game yet, even in a noobs only game. :( No justice in this beta!

Lol, whats your IGN? I'll add you and host a game so you can play.
Hilarious that you got kicked in a noobs only game. Clearly someone wanted to stomp some putties without any putties on his own team.
When the Linux client comes out, I'd like an invite.

The people that I invited should have a single invite available to each of them as well.
I've already used mine :)
My name in the game is Maide. Message me on aim or something to get my attention.
This probably goes without saying, but if you have any feedback about the game, please post it on the HoN forums. Criticisms or complaints are especially appreciated to help figure out what needs fixed or improved on. I'm obviously contributing my point of view pretty heavily, but impressions from first-time players that have little to no DotA experience are very important too.
Trust, you already got an invite, right?
I have a few more available again if there's anyone that I've missed.
I have three invites, btw
I don't want one, but my roommate might.

When should I be looking out for it? Is the Mac client released yet?
The linux client is about but not the Mac one. I'll give towelie your email address and he can send you an invite whenever. I am currently out.
I have some beta invites I can spare. Let me know if you still need one.
The Mac client is out now

Got it, thanks.
NDA was lifted for those of you wanting to talk about the game :)
And yet still in effect against media (Screenshots, videos, etc). :)
If someone has a beta key for this toss me a PM, hearing good things about it from guildies ( in WoW :P ).
I apparantly have lots of beta invites, but since I still can't log in I cant use them.
@Furious, PM me your email address
@Camel, you can't log into the website? I thought you meant you were having issues with the game client itself in the other thread

No, my account is totally broken. I get regular emails about how I should log in, use my beta invites, etc., but my password doesn't work (I did NOT forget it), and password recovery does nothing.
I sent you the vbulletin password reminder. If that doesn't work, I can reset it but I'll have to get S2 to reset your in-game password.
[edit] I reinstalled the game, and it let me log in this time.

Congratulations!
Okay, I was expecting this to be pretty boring, but I actually like it. For some reason, I'm finding it easier to pick up than W3-based DotA.
It's faster, and it looks a lot better. :)

There is a lot of effort put into making it more newb-friendly without annoying veteran players. It could still use more well-thought constructive input in this regard though if you have anything specific. It's very difficult for someone like me that has been playing DotA for 6+ years to even remember how I learned or what could be improved in that regard..
yea this game is awesome, i played it's counter-part 'League of Legends' that is actually developed by the same person who made DotA and surprisingly that game fails so hard.
I'd still kinda like an invite.. :)

Guinsoo's versions of DotA never had much of a reputation for being well balanced. That era came with Icefrog's 6.xx series.
@joe, sent
Thanks.
