Title: Netbooks?
Post by: dark_drake on August 16, 2009, 02:35:03 AM
Does anyone here have anything to say about them? How are they? Would you recommend one? I'm contemplating buying one and would love some input.

Isn't a netbook just another term for crappy laptop?

A crappy laptop with a battery that lasts 2-3 times as long, and weighs almost nothing so isn't a pain to carry around.

I got an ASUS EEE PC for my mom for her birthday. She loves it, but then again all she does is surf the internet, check email, PDF's, and Microsoft Office.

Try one before buying, the tiny keyboards are not for everyone

My buddy has one. The monitor is tiny, and a lot of websites display horribly in them due to the tiny screen. But, I can see it being handy for in-class notes, simple web surfing, ssh and stuff.

I'd consider buying one if I could use my phone's unlimited data plan out-of-box. I'd have to use a not inexpensive USB dongle otherwise.
