Title: 9 Ways Marketing Weasels Will Try to Manipulate You
Post by: iago on September 11, 2009, 11:25:57 AM

Great read! Though in my opinion, it's pretty redundant. I already knew almost everything there, at least in a sub-conscious kind of way, but it's nice to put words/reasons to the things I already do. :)

Quote•The value of what you've spent so far on a service, product, or relationship -- in effort or money -- is probably far less than you think. Be willing to walk away.

I love that one.

How'd I know this was an iago thread when I read the title? :)

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying..

My topic-attribution algorithm has received sufficient training data to classify this as an iago topic with a high probability.

Ah, I get it.

I call that a flaw in your algorithm, though. A type 2 error: you classified a title as something I made up that I didn't. It was only good fortune that made you correct, in this case :P

As Camel said, I didn't claim that it was original content. :)

an "iago topic" is not a topic with original inspiration.  it is one started by you.

As long as we're arguing about stupid things, if you're saying "an iago", you're pronouncing "iago" wrong. :)

(The first sound in 'iago' is a 'y' -- sort of "yaw-go")

I saw a play this summer where they mentioned 'iago', pronounced correctly. I was happy. :)

Aye aye, sir! :P

At next Defcon, we're going to do a workshop on proper pronunciation. Even better if Blaze comes. :)
