Does anyone have one to spare? I need to get business cards printed ASAP (submit design to printer tomorrow!) and I don't want to put my cell phone on there.
Please & Thanks!!
Buy a work phone?

Buy a work phone?
There's no reason for me to have a work phone aside from putting its number on my card, so that money can go to more useful things in my business.

I can ask around.. where would you want it sent? (I'm assuming it requires an email address)
The only way to get in is to sign up at https://services.google.com/fb/forms/googlevoiceinvite/ and wait for Google to invite you. I've had it since they started 6 months ago (I was an upgrade GC user), and have never received a single invite credit.
thats how I got mine too. I dont use it often tho

I have three invites right now. It's recent, though. I don't think I saw them last week.

Oh, weird! One would think that users who've been around the longest would get them first. Must be some other strategy.

Maybe they give them to people they like? :D

Yeah, that is weird. I have a few guesses, but the most reasonable one is geographical. Maybe they can only allow so many new users, and they want to get it to people in certain areas. I have a Maryland area code for my GV number.

I might. I'm going to ask a few friends if they're interested, and probably offer it to my family too, but if no one is expressing sincere interest, then yes.
I think my gf probably will have invites too, so if I run out, I'll see if she'd send you one.
I'd need to know by tonight but I understand if you're unable to do it that quickly.
Read my post! The business day is growing short, and there's less and less people I can ask. :)
You ask, we deliver. Err, I deliver. Well, some random guy in the same IRC channel as me delivers. Whatev. :)
yep iago was able to get one for me, distribute yours to your loved ones Sidoh. Thanks anyway. And especially thanks iago. I didn't realize that I got to have my same area code....it's kind of weird and might take some getting used to.
It'll take getting used to having the same area code you always had?
I don't think I quite understand. :)
I don't have any invites, and I've had the service since GC. Nearly two+ years now. :(

That it's kind of a new number, but not really. If that makes sense.
Interestingly enough, I requested an invite from Google yesterday and received it today.
They send them out quick now I guess.
Just remember that the "in network" crap doesnt work with the Google # (from everything I've read).
What "in network" "crap" are you referring to?

free calls to other verizon customers, etc., i think?
There is already free domestic calling though. Or does it still use your minutes? I plan just to use this for incoming calls though.

Correct.
Why would anyone expect a Google-Verizon call to be free?

Where did someone say they expected it? It was merely highlighted as a disadvantage of using google voice.
You said it:

Now that I look back, though, it's pretty obvious what you meant.
Yeah... I was responding to someone (you?) who asked for clarification... I never said I expected it. :)
