What applications do you guys use to recover data that you lost on a hard drive or pen drive?

dd if=/mnt/backup/device of=/device

but seriously, I don't.  Good backups + making sure I store anything I care about somewhere that it will be backed up removes any need for forensics.


I realize this is probably of little consolation to you since you must have already lost some data :)

Disk Warrior for macs does a pretty incredible job.

The Active@ tool suite is pretty good. Partition Recovery and / or File Recovery are the tools you need.
