What the hell is going on with the vL forums? It's been on maintenance mode for weeks and I'm starting to get worried that it may have fallen down in the shower or something.
Sometimes, falling in the shower is the best you can hope for.
I didn't realize the vL forums were still used. I stopped visiting years ago.
Checking them is still part of my daily routine. It's bugging me :<

That's what the straight men in prison say. HIYOOOOO
Seriously though, what happened? I remember looking there about a month ago for some ancient article and seeing they were down. *shrug*

teamstfu = an ex girlfriend. We broke up in May 2006. Wonder why she was logging in a year later...
Was vL ever popular for something other than BotDev? The only reason I had an account on there was because of bot development... and I think originally what led me to their site was some trivia bot source code I downloaded which used CSB.
So my account there was registered May 2004, man, tempus fugit.
ROFL @ the PMs in my inbox, it's been so long since I've visited the site or posted or anything there, and I forgot but I must have found it amusing to antagonize Mynd... sounds like something I would have done back then, my apologizes Mynd, I was a little asshat back then:

I find it hilarious you're using Internet Explorer...
I'll thank you to keep your off-topic garbage out of my forums.
Anybody ever know what happened to Yoni, Thing, Mephisto, et al? They were huge back in the day and now nary a word about them.

Last thing I ever read of Yoni was that he was serving his military sentence... errr I mean duty.

Even with the extra year he took, he should be out now.

I met him in person a couple times during ICML 2010. I wasn't very organized and had very little time hanging out with him. He seems to be doing pretty great!
I still talk to him regularly. He's still around.
EDIT: Sorry, I'm referring to Yoni.

Interesting.. Was he attending because he's moved into machine learning/AI now, or just because it was in Israel?
On the note of "people I used to talk to / see on battle.net" what happened to Stealth et. al? Joe would probably know best, having met him a few times..
According to Stealth's facebook, he's a healthcare IMLP working for General Electric, living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

No, he didn't attend. ICML 2010 was hosted in Haifa, Israel.
Yoni said he's going to post when gets on his PC! :D
Lol Yoni doesn't have an account here does he? He'd need to get approval. :P

I moved to Madison, Stealth moved to Milwaukee. Maybe he doesn't like me. :( I only met him once, and due to the nature of that meeting I remember very little of it! Probably made an ass out of myself too. :P

I do believe you are correct.

I'm pretty sure I saw the picture on Joe's facebook...then I posted it here? Who knows anymore. That seems like it was about 2-3 years ago.

I'm still around, though I don't log on forums and battle.net anymore so I haven't kept in touch with most people :(
I've finally been released from the army last November (service length == just short of 6 years, a bit longer than required but it was fun and worth it).
Right now I'm doing some temp work for a company that pays more than the army, catching up some math courses required to start a graduate degree, and kicking off a small start-up with a friend (here's hoping we succeed). Maybe slightly too many things at once...
I'm a bit out of touch with the battle.net "scene" (haven't even opened Starcraft 2 in IDA like I planned to) but definitely not out of touch with reverse engineering. My recent focus has been iPhones, mostly for work (in said temp company).

Very cool. I'm wrapping up the iOS development "certification" at my college (and more importantly, putting my first higher ed completion under my belt) next month. What kind of stuff do you do?
Not sure my employer will be okay with me giving full details but it involves running a custom kernel on the iPhone (some based on the ones made by the jailbreak community, some made by me) and running some low level functions on the phone. It's not an app (technically it's not exactly iOS).
welcome back
